Doors at 1pm, action starts 2pm. The event will feature International Pro-rules MMA, Muay Thai Scottish title eliminators, and a full supporting undercard of MMA, Muay Thai, and Kickboxing. Thank you already to the depth of response to the show - email and mobile red hot! I'm dealing with the thai matches, i'll pass on mma matchmaking to Garry Christie and John Nicholson from Sportfight Scotland.

We have a provisional thai card developing which is bringing together the usual suspects alongside new (to the MT scene) gyms that are producing quality thai fighters and it looks like a scotland v. england feel is beginning to emerge in the main card...thank you to the gyms so far that have offered fighters - we appreciate the travel and commitment involved form first hand experience. Over the next few days, hopefully we will be able to announce some more scotland/ england matches, thanks to richard smith, tommy collins, vinnie shoreman, dean white, darren philips for their support.

The story so far, more to follow....

September Showdown – Muay Thai Bouts
Alan Thanikul (Caledonian) v. Steven Steele 63.5kg(Sit Ayuthaya)
Graeme McGuigan (Caledonian) v. Sean McDonald 66kg(SMTC)
Chris Moir (AMAG) v. Kevin Grant 70kg(Base MT)

Scottish Title Eliminator
Hardip Singh (Caledonian) v Mark Kerray (Base MT) 57kg

Scotland v England Prestige Bouts
Jordan Calder (Caledonian) v. Jackson Barkhouse (Maryport Dragons) 54kg
JoJo Calderwood v. Zoe Green (Maryport Dragons) 52kg
Stephen Meikle(Caledonian / Mungkorn) v. Leroy Morgado (Supergym) 67.5kg 5x3 FTR

Good news fight fans in Scotland - Gordon Smith made it back safe and sound from his six month trip to Sasiprapa gym, Bangkok, and is up for fighting on the show, so hope to match him against english opponent, A class, 67.5kg. great to see Gordon back in Glasgow, not sure how he's feeling though.... I'd like to thank Thakoon and all at Sasiprapa for looking after Gordon and training his butt off, not to mention the three fights he clocked up too.

Excited to announce the next Scotland v England prestige match, full thai rules - Steven Brown from Wossobama, trained by Alan Currie, versus Dave Fensom, from Woking Muay Thai. I've seen both these guys fight and they are sharp, this will be an explosive, exciting match up - good to have you both on board.
Hope to have more matches confirmed this week, stay tuned, and good luck to dave in his forthcoming fight with danny taylor.

There is a great pool of 59kg fighters at the moment (any promoters thinking about an 8 man could do well out of this weight range...) - I would like to have seen stevie brown matched with david macintosh as a scottish title eliminator after davy's cracking performance against danny taylor in april, but he's injured his back quite badly in thailand, so i'll be watching dave fensom v taylor with interest, as i'm sure will stevie brown. Taylor is definitely one of/ the best fighter in his category for my money, but these guys are close on his heels.

Guy, the idea of an 8-man at my weight sounds wicked! Something I've hoped will happen for a while. Hope Davy gets better soon, wanna see him back in action :-)

I know Danny's tough Vinny, watched him fight a few times now and he always puts on a good show. Thats why it will be an honour and a pleasure to jump in with him. Lets see if he can drink as well as Ruth after tho, thats the true test!!! LOL

yeah, was looking forward to that, shame about cut in the first round. next time stevie.

next confirmed fight is mansoor aslam v. wullie 'wug' dempster - this rematch will be full-on action as both fighters love to stand and trade. the first match ended swiftly as wug threw mansoor out of the ring where he landed heavily on his knee (still injured after his 5 round war with bad co's tom bird)forcing mansoor's corner to concede the match.

tickets are now on sale from the griphouse, sportfight scotland, and the civic centre box office.

event poster and full card posting soon.

looking forward to having you on the show sean - i know it was a bit rough having to skip the weight last time. the sauna suit donor was all round nice guy and cracking mma / thai fighter john cullen(DNFT, dumbarton), who we are hoping to have matched for mma rules at the show too.

Additions to the Scotland v England card......George Berry and Baz Reilly from Bad Co are heading north to do battle with the old enemy. Cheers guys, look forward to seeing you. Rest of the card will be sorted this week. One more v. exciting proposition, but agonisingly sworn to silence unitl its 110%...

not half! thanks as ever to charlie and the team at C2 design media for their support, and of course the two griphouse fighters in the pic - tommy young from caledonian and paul mcveigh from DNFT. Paul will be fighting at the show if we can find anyone brave enough after his knee bar dismantled his italian opponent at cage wars, and don't miss tommy at martial mayhem 3 september 16th in ayr... (quick plug for wullie mccracken and alan currie).

Loving the poster, but can't believe Tommy kicking Paul on the deck, thought they were mates!? I seen the video of Paul's last fight Guy, the knee bar looked brutal, he needs to stop scaring of the competition and make it easier to get matched! I think Stevie and Leroy will be a good fight, seen Leroy a couple of times and looks great on paper! Some great shows lined up for the end of the year!

yeah gary, it's looking quality up here for the next few months! will be good to see tommy on POS3...3rd in a row for him! cracking additions to the Showdown card, am really excited about these two bouts...

Clash of Champions - Jackie Short returns to the ring to take on Hilary Mack - what better way for Hil to ready herself for her intercontinental title bout v Christine Toledo, than to face off with ISKA World (correct me if i'm wrong..) Champ Jackie Short. As a staunch supporter of the women's fight game, i'm delighted to see Jackie back in action.

....and another barnstormer - STBA 67.5kg Champion Rab Burt (Base MT, trained by Bobby Quinn) defends his title against challenger Caledonian's Gordon Smith in a full rules face off.

Sweet.

Our Semi-pro mma rules has no striking the head of a downed opponent.

B-class mma allows punches to the head of a downed opponent.

Full pro rules mma allows punches and elboes to the head of a downed opponent.

hey liam, it's kind of like thai rather than pride, if their ass or hands are on the floor, you can't kick to the head, however you can up-kick from the ground if your opponent is standing. i'll ask the sportfight crew to post full set of rules as this will help understand scoring criteria at the event.
p.s. how's your shin?

Happy to announce that in an attempt to avoid any partisan paranoia given the excitable relationship between our fine countries, two of the sports finest englishmen will be joining us in an official capacity - Mr Tony Myers will be refereeing the Muay Thai bouts, and Mr Craig Jose will be judging MMA and

18 fights and standard tickets at £20.00 thats just over £1.00 per fight. More than value for money there I'd say. In fact it's fooking brilliant.

all the fighters who weighed in today were a credit to their camps - those who had to make weight did so,no problems, everybody bang on, thank you for your professionalism. I'll post up the final card tonight, fingers crossed it will remain the same until showtime tomorrow.

travel news - avoid newmains turn off from m8 as heavy roadworks in place, use m73,m74, m'well turn off, then b754 wishaw, this is airbles road, after a few annoying mini roundabouts, civic centre is on left.

there is going to be a massive thank you list for this one, but one geezer has really taken a load off me by becoming the grip's top pad man - brian calder, cheers brian, the hard work will definitely pay off.

to all my squad, you do me proud, fight hard, fight to win. see you all tomorrow.

Well done to Guy, John & Gary, really good show!

Here is some of the Thai reslts:

Dip won with a good performance!

Hil won a close fight.

Jojo won convincingly with strong straight knee's.

Jordan had another good & mature win.

Rab Burt won well, was a good fight & Gordon done well, but Rab was on good form. Rab has to be one of, if not the strongest champion to hold the STBA belt IMO.

Someone will post full results, to awkward on my phone.

Congratulations Jordan, Hil, Dip, and the rest of the Caley clan. Hope you've got time to soak it in now, Guy. Nay, I'm sure you'll be back at it first thing tomorrow with those macchiatos strategically interspersed throughout the day. Rest is overrated.

and Gordon Smith.... as pointed out by a few people before he is as tough as they come and will come back stronger, aside from Rab (who was quality yesterday and in my opinion is peaking just now)i think he is the best 67kg guy in Scotland and i hope he starts getting some of the recognition he deserves, i know everyone at Caly was proud of him and rightly so. Hats of to Rab Burt though who is a very good fighter and comes accross as a top guy as well.
Never saw that many of the other fights but of the ones i did see Jordan and JoJo were class and all their hard work in the gym paid of!!
Graham Turner was awesome as well!!
Well done to all fighters and to Guy and the Dinky Ninjas for a cracking show!!
