Battle In Bournemouth 6 - November 17th 2007

www.battleinbournemouth.com

I have just confirmed the main events for Battle 6 - 3 Cracking Female UK Vs USA Matches:

Intercontinental Title Thai Rules 63kg:
Julie Kitchen (Touchgloves UK) Vs Kerry Vera (Master Toddy / Vera Gym LA)

Intercontinental Title Thai Rules -48kg:
Denise Mellor (Sukhothai UK) Vs Patti Teran (Master Toddy Las Vegas)

Intercontinental JUNIOR Title Thai Rules 52kg:
Sally McCarthy (Sukhothai UK) Vs Victoria Beltran (Boxing Zone - San Diego)

All 3 fights will be worth the ticket money alone - Denise Vs Patti last year on Master A's show was a great fight so this is a rematch! Sally McCarthy remains undefeated in this country and is the holder of 4 Junior Title Belts - she is 16 this year so this will be her last Junior fight before she moves into the adults!

And then Julie Vs Kerry - everyone knows what a great athlete Julie is and is on a hell of a results role - and Kerry winning in Thailand by KO on Fight Girls is also top level (she is married to Brandon Vera the UFC fighter so I hope Nath dont end up pissing im off if they get their pics in the papers!!!)

I am still matching the undercard - and will reveal the full line up soon as,

keen to hear your thoughts on these fights! I have a few VIP Tables left if anyone is interested - email me for details

How did Julie K get on
Sid Remmer

The female fights - pasted from womenkickboxing.com:

"Denise Mellor Vs Patti Teran WIKBA Intercontintental Title 48kg Max - Win to Denise (points). I didnt see the fight so cant comment.

Julie Kitchen Vs Kerry Vera WIKBA Intercontintental Title 63kg Max - Win to Julie (points). Once again, I didnt see the fight.

Sally McCarthy Vs Victoria Beltran WIKBA Junior Intercontinental Title 53kg Max - Devastatingly, Sally didn't pass the medical due to a throat infection (it was the size of a grapefruit!) and so couldn't fight. I got a call from Lorne at 3pm so we bundled Christi into the car and just made Bournemouth for the half time interval. Weighed in, saw the doctor, wrapped her hands and we were on! Lorne took me and Victor (Victorias trainer/dad) to one side and we went through the rules and set each other straight with the records etc which I do appreciate. So...

Christi Campbell Vs Victoria Beltran WIKBA Junior Intercontinental Title 53kg Max - Win to Christi (5th rnd TKO).

Christi was desperately tired throughout the fight as she hasn't even seen a gym for the last three weeks - doctors ban for a cauliflower ear, no training at all. And it showed! Victoria was well trained and showed some solid techniques but I think when she crumpled in a grapple early on, she picked up an injury and this seemed to plague her throughout. Perhaps this evened things up a bit?
The reff sensibly stopped the fight in round five. Victoria took a standing 8 in round 2 and imho Christi won every other round too. Victoria scored with turning heel kick, boxing, leg kick and pushed forward aggressively. She showed a strong straight knee but I don't think she landed one(?). Christi scored with boxing, running leg kick, rib kick, teep to face, grappling. Her balance was good.
It wont go down as a great fight but it was a good fight. I must applaud Lorne for stumping up the petrol so we could come - it didn't sell him any more tickets but he did it so Victoria would have a chance to fight for the belt. I met some of the American team at the bar and had a chance to chat with Kerry Vera too. Real swell bunch of people. If Victoria's team want a rematch on American turf, just let me know :-) My heart really goes out to Sally who will have trained hard for this fight and must be gutted.

It was a good show with a great atmosphere.

And all the UK girls won. Weyhey!"

julies opponent was ok with her hands in the 1st round but apart from that i dont think the American fighters had another good round out of the 15 and definitly handnt clinched or kneed much before! Christi was class on such short notice. Good show, no beach activity too cold! well done to scott and too assasins kids who were all strong and put on a good show.

Yes it was a great show - The Assassins kids were tough and full credit to them. In my eyes Densie was a clear Fighter of the night winning at least 4 rounds against Patti Teran who beat her last year, she trained hard for this and really deserved the win. Kerry was actually surprisingly strong and very punchy, and both her and Brandon were real nice with it.

Thanks to all who helped out, and thanks to all fighters - started slow unfortunatly due the the doctor being late which was obviously out of my hands but other than that it was hard work but real good!

A big thank you and well done to young Christi Campbell who jumped in as a replacement for Sally who failed the medical and the doctor refused to let fight. Christi took the fight on literally 3 hours notice (considering they were 3 hours away thats pretty good!!!). Without me, Sid and Christi working together that international Junior fight would have remained non existant and vacant - thanks to you guys,

Lorne

AND BIG UP DENISE!!!!!!!!

Great show, well done Lorne and thanks for having us on.

Some great fights. I think Julie was class against a very tough opponent and once again showed why she is number 1! Some good work rate from her against a very dangerous fighter. It was good to see Julie really tested and come back even stronger. Well done again Julie and Nathan.

I thought that Denise was excellent and showed superior clinch and knee work and had a well deserved win.

Bernie vs Scott was a fanatstic fight with some very good techniques. The only sad point was one of Bernies fans attacking Scott afterwards, but full credit to Bernie for sticking up for Scott and showing maturity beyond his years.

My lad Joe had a storming fight against Ian Squires in his first 5 rounder (I think it was Ians first aswell) with the fight going to a split decision and Ian taking the decision which I felt was the correct decision. Both lads have a bright future if they carry on their progress.

The assasin kids all looked very good, Mark is doing very well there and has got some future champions on his hands.

Last, but by no means least, Christi taking the fight at 3 hours notice and pulling out the win was fantastic. Sid must be so proud of her...although I was laughing to myself that she had to wear shinpads and a headguard, knowing how much she hates them!!!!

Well done again to Lorne for a great show and to all the fighters

Dan i think you fought with great heart and determination, i know most kids would have gone down and stayed down as the from assasins was very powerful and driving those knees in hard, its credit to your conditioning im sure you will bounce back and learn more from this fight. Chokedee
