Carlisle muay thai club are holding a night of thai boxing up here in Carlisle on the 9th of March. Top of the bill will be 2 UKMF British title fights the first being a re-match for Jackie Short against Hilary Mack from Guy Ramsey,s in Scotland and they will be fighting for the ladies 52kg belt. The 2nd title is set up for Adam Smith at 54kg but i am yet to confirm an opponent, both these fights will be under full thai rules. We will be having plenty of undercard bouts also so anyone that has fighters that they may wish to match please contact me.

Will send my list this week mate.

Joey can make 54kg by the way, i spoke with him earlier and he says he can do it only if my Thai missus cooks for him.......................lol

He eats crap, his moms cooking is a basic working class cuisine, sausage, pie, chips etc etc etc so my mrs has said she gonna cook him some training food, so now not only do i have to see him at the gym, i got to eat with him at night too.

Marc, thanks for your kind words, it means a lot when a fighter of your calibre recognises someone elses ability,
Joey and Adam fought last summer on one of Steve Logans shows and it was a very good fight with Adam giving away weight - Joey won on pts.

Adam is very powerful and also has good techniques so if it happens at 54kg where Joey doesnt have the weight advantage then it may be a different fight and worthy of a title.

good luck with finding adam an opponent mate, think joey would be a good fight for him at 54kgs, joeys a monster, he is bigger than me lol. Both lads are really nice guys and think we will be seeing them shooting through the ranks very soon. Adams a very clever and dangerous puncher and has alot of power especially when you think he could probably make 52KGS, future opponent for da silva maybe....?

all the best with the show mate.

Dean, thanks for the words mate, gonna get Joey some more experience this year as he hasnt any Amatuer record, just a couple of interclubs and then straight into the big shows, giving away weight mostly during 2007.

I am hoping to see big things from yourself this year mate, i was very impressed with your fight on the Wolves show.

Maybe can get a match up later in the year, Joeys off to Thailand in the summer for 2-3 months, training and fighting hopefully, went out last year after his fight with Adam, but was suffering from broken ribs (from Adams kicks !!)for at least 6 weeks out there so couldnt give it his all.

Spoken to Stu today re this fight............?????? :-)

Posted: 2008-01-08 15:38:57
How luck is he, wish i could just up and leave for 2-3 months mate lol, where does he train in thailand?

joey is a good lad seen him fighting Marc Brown who is another top fella aswell. I know what you mean though mate there aint many people around in the uk at the weight but loads in thailand, so you will find plenty of action for him there as well as out side the ring lol.

yeah im sure we are gonna meet at some point mate. how many has he had now? he is doing really well from what i hear so well done, especially as you said with him giving away weight.

thanks for the kind word, thought my last one was a little scruffy but can't moan i guess mate. Just train and improve on the thing wasn't happy with.

Cheers for the good words about Adam Dean and i,m sure your self and Adam will meet again someday. Me and Mike are having a big WMC show in October and we are bringing a team of thai,s over and 1 of them maybe Rungchi, good match for you i think but thats a long way of. On this show i want to try and put the best of british against some good thai,s and want all the fights to be of a high standard just to show people how big the sport is becoming. The first match that has sort of been arranged and is what i would call the best 2 fighters at this weight in this country is micheal dicks v,s keiren keddle but its early stages of sorting this out so anything could happen but i think this fight will probs be the fight of the year at their weight.
dean jay
Posted: 2008-01-08 17:38:00
If there is a fight goin mate would love to be involved against a thai, well if you do then maybe give tony an email. soundS great mate, dicks and keddle would be a fight i'd travel to see. Me and Adam will be sure to rematch in the future mate, good luck with the show coming up and the future one you are planning.

is the fight on between Joey and Adam then? i'm a little confused, don't take much lol.

what are both lads fight records now?

think it would be a good fight and both seem like two game lads who love to fight. all the best toboth of them.

I would say we will have a fight for you mate going to start matching it all up after i get this one in march out of the way. For that WMC show i want to put fights on that people will travel to see so i want all of them to be the best fighters that we have in britain and with you saying that you would travel to see micheal against kieren only makes me try harder to get this fight on. As far as Adam and Joey,s records go they are both very similar,Adam having 9 fights and Joey having 10 so i think this is going to be a great fight for both of them.I,m sure Tony is coming up to ref this show, see if you can hitch a lift with him.

Also still trying to match Dan Hope 77-78kg (10 fights),13 year old Lauren Reay(1 fight) 52-53kg,16 year Wayne Fisher 62-63(10 fights) and Eddie Fisher 61-62kg(2 fights)if anyone can match any of the above please email me.

Badger was 66 for his last fight....im not surprised people want paying good money to fight dicks its not as if hes some chimpanzee, hes one of best boxers from uk....Kotsur Vs Dicks would be good but not sure many promoters wanna work with him in uk after his shenanigans with Master Skens show.

Fair play to ask for decent money to fight him but everyone knows that there is,nt much money in the sport at present, but i,ve agreed a fight for Micheal on our show in October against Keddle and he has,ent asked for a penny as he knows he will be well looked after.Getting a few Thais over so may even be a fight for you Liam. Myself and Mike want to put the best of british against a team from thailand so hope to get a really good strong british team.
What happened at Skens show?

I will get Mike to get in touch with mr smith and we,ll try and sort something out. I am going to start the match making next month for this show,i know that its a long way of but its going to be a biggie so will prob,s take all that time to sort it. I've been Kieran's manager for a number of years.

I'm more than happy for him to fight on the show, if the timing and conditions are right, and wish Stu and Mike all the best with it.

However currently the bout is not confirmed and when Kieran mentioned the possibility of it to me he certainly wasn't under the impression he'd be fighting for free.

Only a week on sunday till the show and its a sell out!happy days. Michelle Grizzle will now be fighting Jackie Short for the UKMF british belt under full thai rules. This should be a cracking fight with Jackie just winning the IKF intercontinental title a couple of weeks ago on the lady killers and Michelle will be out to get a win after being beaten on the lady killers show by ruth ashdown.
The other main event for the UKMF british 54kg title will be fought out between Adam Smith(Carlisle) and Joey Brincat(wales). These 2 fought last year with Joey taking the win on points and this re-match i think will be a excellent fight. Hope to see some of you axers there and i would like to thank everyone who has supported the show.

Gonna leave at 12 for the mammoth 6 hour drive from Cardiff, really loking forward to it (the show not the drive)

Gotta be said that we are being looked after very well by Stu and his team for this show. Although Joey wont be able to eat tonight in the the Thai Restraunt as he gotta make weight.

Really looking forward to this one, had Joey training hard and sparring with Elbows for the last 8 weeks.

Also i been letting them all kick f**k into me when i got the red man suit(tm) on. Dont belive what it says on the tin , cos it still f***ing hurts.

See all those fighting on this show later, some i have met before, some new firends i hope.

got to say this was a very good show, some good fights and we were trreated very very well by Stu, Mike and their team.

If anyone gets a chance to go up there it is well worth it, not just for the way we were looked after but everyone friendly and helpful, no bulshit, no games everyone enjoyed themselces ... got to say a credit to the sport in the UK.

We got to meet some new firends, and i got to take my fiance' and Joey to Scotland for the 1st time in their lives too!!!
All in all a very nice weekend.

As for the fight between Adam and Joey, i had Joey ahead on points in all the rounds, i told him to make the 4th round decisive adn he just had a moment of lax concentration, and Stu, Mike and Adam had their own gameplan and stuck with it.... a massive right hand from Adam that would have KO'ed mike Tyson, saw Adam Crowned UKMF British Champion - well done young man you have a lot left to give this sport and will be be going far.

Looks like some new kids on the block in the 55kg division now guys..........

Some great fights on the show. Congrats to adam and jackie on doing carlisle proud and winning the UKMF british titles. From what i heard adams knockout punch was a monster. He has one massive punch for someone who weighs less than 54kg. Congrats to all the other carlisle guys on competeing too, and stu and mike for the success of the show.

Also congrats to my opponent alan sawyer and lumpini crawley, alan had a plan and set to it very well. Good talking to alan in the bar after too, nice guy. Back to the drawing board and hard training for me but cant wait to get back in the ring again and get back on the winning road.

Special thanks to sean for travelling up that morning, i know you had a really busy weekend with tom being on cage rage till late the evening before etc. Its much appreciated.

Thanks to all those who supported me at the show, especially those who travelled some distance. Was good to see people who i hadnt seen for a while again.
