Fitness Parameters 4 Muay Thai...

Hi, I’m doing a module for uni on ‘applied sports science’ and need to determine the level of importance for each of the following fitness parameters as a requirement for Muay Thai; can anyone with knowledge of this help? :-)

Fitness Parameters;

1) Aerobic Capacity

2) Anaerobic Capacity

3) Muscular Strength

4) Muscular Endurance

5) Body Fat

6) Flexibility

Scale;

Extremely Important;

Very Important;

Important;

Mildly Important;

Not Important at all

Here’s my guess but would greatly appreciate any other opinions from those who are not actually guessing lol!

Aerobic Capacity = Extremely Important

Anaerobic Capacity = Extremely Important

Muscular Strength = Important

Muscular Endurance = Extremely Important

Body Fat = Very Important

Flexibility = Very Important

Thanks, KAT :-)

Kat I would review your scale cos its skewed towards these items having 4 times more importance scores than only one level for other measure. Results would be difficult to explain. Look at other scales of this type. However on your scale -

1.mildly important
2.extremely important
3.important
4.very important
5.important (depends on individual)
6.important

Hi Jamie, thanks for ur response; the scale I did not devise myself and is from my tutors at uni so is the one I have to use.

I’m doing a portfolio of exercise tests based on the fitness parameters mentioned above and producing results from a participant at uni.

The purpose of my portfolio is to compare the results from my participant with the general performance requirements for Muay Thai.

It does not need to be tailed to what would be beneficial for the individual, just for Muay Thai participants as a whole.

So I just wanted to make sure I had the right general idea of what is required for Muay Thai.

Thanks again, KAT :-)
