Western Boxing in Thailand

I am interested in going to Thailand to train but I am an amateur boxer.
Thailand has some great Pro's but all the gyms i've looked at are Muay Thai gyms. Does anyone have any experience or ideas.
Thanks

As a amateur boxer you may have to tag along in some good Muay Thai champs. The pros mostly fight under the WBC, unless they have changed since i was there last,97. The pros fighting may not help with your amateur style as they punch to destroy not to sore points. Anyhow once you get there you will find what you want to get out of training and you will have a lot of fun. You will get hard training and good sparring with friendly Thais

yep loads of pro boxing in thailand,no AM sceane though! some muay thai gyms have switched to mainly pro boxing, sor vorapin being one of them i believe. proboxing is as big as MT if not bigger now in thailand and its definately a better pay day! samart had a stint at pro boxing! either way as long as you dont mind being hit and train hard you should have no problem at a pro gym! iv done a bit of sparring with the pro boxers and they always say i should fight boxing rather than mt as im short but have decent hands!

I'm cool with pro boxing/training, I'm coming to the end of my amateur career anyway. I've heard its possible to fight out there at one of the stadiums after the Muay thai.

ISS Gym in Pattaya I am sure trains for Western Boxing too. Not 100% sure though, so maybe worth getting another opinion.

lots of amatuer boxing in Thailand, but tends to be run around the different branches of the military. There are usually a couple of Amatuer boxing fights every Lumpini fight night before the Muaythai fights start and big training camps for Olypic team with often Cuban trainers involved. As I saidf though usually at army camps and not sure how easy for westerner to get involved

I heard about a bit of it going on at one of the universities as well (Chula I think), the one near MKB.

Cheers

They do a bit of western boxing at Jitti's.
Jitti used to box at Rajadamnern
Samingnum boxed for Thailand at the Seoul Olympics
Daomai was well-ranked by the WBC (3rd or 4th in his weight-class I think)

Currently at Jitti's one of the lads is fighting muay thai AND boxing at the big stadiums. They just sort his training to suit the fight.

Liam Harrison has also fought pro-boxing out of Jitti Gym, at a show in Cambodia.

If this is something you would be interested in, then Jitti has the contacts.
Have a look on www.jittigym.com or mail him (contact details on the website).
