Scott Quigg signs for Hatton Promotions

Scott Quigg (12-0), along with gym mate Reece Roberts (6-0) and ABA champion Matthew Askin (2-0)), have signed for Ricky Hatton's Promotions team. Ricky has joined forces with Golden Boy promotions, who are keen to seek out young up and coming boxers in Europe. Ricky has signed several boxers, as well as the three lads from Brian Hughes's gym Ricky's brother Matthew and also Joe Murray, brother of British Lightweight Champion John Murray. He has apparently always fancied promoting when he hangs his gloves up and vows to "not treat boxers the way he has been treated in the past"

Scott should feature on their first bill in Altrincham on March 28th, I will have tickets if any one fancies it.

It looks like a busy couple of months for the Moston gym with Michael Jennings facing a massive task against Michael Cotto at MSN in Feb and then Matthew Hall fighting Bradley Price for his Commonwealth Light Middle weight title.

Congratulations to Scott, he deserves all he gets, as he is so dedicated and self disciplined - need to get a few more of the thai boxing lads behind him, watching him fight etc - I don't think many people realise that Scott still corners for me and helps out loads at the gym, with the kids, and also attends alot of thai shows still.
A true sportsman who will go far

I've been going down no for a few months, initially to hold pads, but started to do a bit more now. Listen to Brian coach has given me a fresh lease of life. He has some strong views on the state of UK boxing which I had better not put to print, but I share them! Hopefully Scott can bring a bit of sparkle back to it.

When Hatton came down to watch the lads train, Scott came to my house picked my son up and took him to the gym with him. he gave Luke a pair of gloves and got Hatton to sign them for him one each to both my lads!

Well done mate.

I have a mate who is a pro boxer so know what you mean about getting treated right. You have a great support network there and you have an ace attitude to training. I can see you going really far.

Scott boxed last night for the first time under the Hatton promo banner. He stopped a very tough and defensive French lad in the 5th round. He boxed well but went looking for the knock out a bit to much.

On the same bill Scott's fellow gyms members, Reece Roberts won on points and Thomas McDonough stopped max Maxwell in one round.

Olympian Joe Murray won a 6 rnds points victory over Sid Razack, a well schooled journey man. Joe through some good looking shots but took too many back and was puffing like a stema train form the 3rd on. As an interesting form guide, Scott stopped Razack in 2 rnds whilst giving away nine pounds

Scotts nexr fight will be on July 11th against the African that Randel Munroe has just fought for the Commonwealth title.

the african started well but fade in the latter half of the fight, although it did go the distance.

the fight is only over six rounds, although Scott's camp wanted eight the Hattons where unprepared to "cough up the dosh". Over six rounds this is a much harder fight and Scott will realy have to keep his concentration levels high.

Last minute cahnge of opponent bcause of a cock up over when the weigh in was going to be!!

Scott boxed a Romanian, the lad had some decent skills but as soona s Scott started landing the writting was on the wall, a left and right hook to the body and first round stoppage win.

Scott got 30 press ups for stopping him to early, again!!

Next fight will be a sky show on the 25th September

Looked like it was shaping up to be a good fight the other lad looked quite skillful. Great body shots to finish from Scott, well done mate. Think you need to calm it or nobody will fight ya, Daz - any word on the next opponent?
