Hi all,

The WMC/IFMA General Secretary Stephen Fox has released the dates for the IFMA World Championships.

This year’s IFMA World Championships have been moved from Darwin – Australia in May, to Bangkok – Thailand in November, in honour of His Majesty the King of Thailand’s Birthday.

There is expected to be in excess of a hundred plus countries attending this mammoth event, those of which will be able to attend the 2010 GAISF Martial Arts Games in China.

Please find below the English UKMF Amateur Team Selection Criteria for this coming competition in Bangkok:

• Fighters who successfully win a medal at the IFMA European Cup (Latvia – May ’09) will automatically secure their place on the England Team.
• Fighters who gain wins at both the English Eliminations (July 18th and 24th October - Cambridge) will also be considered for the English Team.

Please do not apply for a position on the team if the following applies to your fighter:

• Your fighter/gym cannot fund said fighter to attend the competition in Bangkok
• Your fighter has less than ten fights on their fight record at the start of the competition in Bangkok
• Your fighter will not be competing at either the IFMA European Cup or at the English Eliminations this year
• Your fighter is over the age of thirty-five or under the age of fifteen at the start of the competition in Bangkok

This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the excellence of English MuayThai on a world scene, please get involved!

Hi all,

I have been given the privilege to announce for the first time ever, the qualifying team attending the competition will be fully funded by the federation.

As you can imagine with the next UKMF English Amateur Team attending the IFMA World Championships in Bangkok being fully funded, places are going to be hotly contested for.

We would like to ensure that everyone in England has a fair chance of getting on the UKMF English Amateur Team, so please be aware of the following:

> All fighters details required by no later than 18th June 2009

> Matching begins 2nd May 2009

> Any one can enter the event as long as they hold a valid UKMF license on the day

> To make the England Team for the World Championships in Bangkok, you must put your fighters details forward for the eliminations on the 18th July and 24th October

> Fighters must be under the age of 35 years

> Over the age of 15 years

> Can attend the team training sessions

> Hold a valid British passport

> Can sustain their fighting weight for the full period of the competition

> Are available to attend the competition in Thailand for the full period

> Have a minimum of ten (this may be increased to 15-20 depending on the demand) fights.

> No more than 44 fights (88 fighters) will be matched on this event

If you have any questions regarding the UKMF Amateur Teams, Eliminations or International Competitions, please do ask.

Hey Fighters!

If your instructor has not asked you to compete for a place on the UKMF England Team by the end of the week, then ask your instructor if you can.

It is believed that alot of people would not be interested in competing under amateur rules for one reason or another, but now I hope things will begin to change.

So you fighter, if you want to be a part of the UKMF England Amateur Team attending the IFMA World Championships in Bangkok this year, then YOU need to speak up. LOUDLY!

Let your instructor know, then let us know.

Sawatdee Khrup!

Not wanting to hijack this thread but I just want to add that this IS a great OPPORTUNITY for up and coming fighters. The amateur scene is still relatively new here in the UK and Europe are miles ahead at the moment. However we have so much untapped talent and potential in our up and coming fighters that it would be a crime to let this pass us by. Kru Ryan Rudkin is single-handidly steering the Amateur scene (IFMA) here in the UK and needs your support. I am placing one of my fighters forward and hopefully will be able to put more fighters into the growing amateur scene in the near future.

There has never been a better time for UK Muay Thai than now both in professional and amateur. The standard of our fighters and instructors is high, our organisation is improving and I truly belive we are headed for a Golden age of Muay Thai here in the UK. Be in it, put past reservations to one side, bury any hatchets and grieviences (I have), take a step forward and make your club, students and fighters proud to be a part of the Scottish, Irish, Welsh and English team that is GREAT Britain.

Hi all,

at the Worlds this year, there will be two "Male Adult" catagories.

Those with 10+ fights will be placed into catagory 'A', those with less than 10 fights will be placed in catagory 'B'.

What does this mean?

It means there will be even more places to fight for on the England Team.

What happens when there is 2 of same in same cat?

• Yahia Abaza (KO -71kg/Male Adult ‘A’ Team)
• Liam Robinson (Pra Chao Suua -71kg/Male Adult ‘A’ Team)

Do they fight out for a place?

I think its a bit rough if Mason / Me dont get a place on full team cuz Mason was way overmatched in Greece and still took that bout under proper rules fighting an adult with 7 times the fights who was a lot bigger and the greeks were wrongly informed that mason won a medal in last years competition and they had tom down as a british champion?? i dont know who made this thinigs up when matching, plus he only done it for the experience i could have made 67 day b4 easy and spanked that guy all over the floor.

Mason beat a current adult team member as he couldnt get a junior match, again he didnt have to he could have walked through and i fought a very experienced boxer from New Zealand giving away weight when could have walked through the same.

Please let us all know asap what a full place and apprentice place will include.

Should read:

• Yahia Abaza (KO -71kg/Male Adult ‘B' Team)
• Liam Robinson (Pra Chao Suua -71kg/Male Adult ‘A’ Team)

------------

You accepted the fight well in advance of the event, choosing Mason to fight in your place. You already knew the lad he was fighting was far more experienced and still accepted the fight for Mason anyway.

Masons Opponent came in 1oz over weight and was made to skip that off.
Mason came in 1-1.5kg over, and constantly complained about having to lose the weight, if his preparation for the event was done as discussed, then there would have been no need for him to lose weight during the weigh in.

I witnessed all weigh in's myself.

Mason did not beat a current team member, he beat someone who entered the event just the same, who had not managed to secure his place on the England team.

Your match was at -71kg, so there was no weight giving at all.

You could have declined both fights, but decided to brag about Mason and yourself spanking your opponents around the ring with no problem, so the match was accepted.

If you check your email, you will see what both will include, but I think it is fair to say that both you and Mason will now not be asked to join the England team.

This has no use a stepping stone to pro as the rules are so different as is the scoring. I cant let my boxers take advice in squad training like kick from further back and use ur feet not your shins, dont bother kicking hard just kick softly 3 or 4 times.
I've bit my tongue for too long and sat back while you have spoken to boxers with ten times your experience, knowledge, heart and bottle for this sport like a ten year old piece of dirt and tried to calm them down when they want to give you a slap.
The Greeks were given invented records and achievements of our team and sent like lambs to a slaughter with you not knowing in decent time when the weighins would be, not monitoring the weighins, the proper experience of the opponents and with nothing but a useless pile of hot air stood in corner. It cost me over £700 to go and support my lad and make sure he didnt get a shoeing, without my help in corner u know full well they wouldnt have done as well as they did with someone not having a clue what to tell them and jsut trying to shove a shedload of water down their necks before they even got a chance to get their breath back.
Got tired of telling people give him a chance etc trying to defend you when u are talking down at people then you make up lies that i gave a corner advice on sunday and tried to go off telling tales.
So many people bent over backwards to help you coming up as a referee in the sport and as a judge, yet you now turn your back on them and wont give them any support with anything they are doing. You choose to force nazi rules and regulations upon people trying to help and learn and somehow have forgotten that you havent managed to ever produce a fighter and never had any kind distinguised fight career not even so much as to say 'yeah he was shit but he had bottle and gave it a go'. Why dont you remember you fought Ed Knaur at the tower ballroom in your hayday as one of your final bouts C Class and he was from Spirit of Siam gym Corby, there are no lies you can fabricate to proove otherwise so i wouldnt attempt it.
I Propose that you refund the entry fees paid and the expenses for the eliminations and training plus a donation towards the cost of Corfu for which Martin also spent an arm and a leg when we were told food was covered.
I would warn anyone going that the price of that hotel is ridiculous and the flights arent even paid, so many promises made yet so few materialised.
Basically we, being a large number of us who have tried our hardest not to bring you back down to planet earth will not tolerate being spoken to in the manner you have been doing are waiting for when you see past your imaginary pair of balls you have grown, the fancy titles at the end of posts and emails and your lies so u can either apologise or back your mouth up.
I am sorry if this offends anybody on here and for the lack of punctuation and grammar but in a rush and a bit pissed off lol.
