What type of boxing - amateur? pro? semi-pro / white collar?
Your best bet would be to contact the British Boxing Board of Control. They will then put you in touch with a local BBBC promoter in your area... It's then up to you to strike a rapport and see if they will show you the ropes so to speak...
White Collar / Semi-pro on the other hand is a little different. Whereas the BBBC will insist on standards to meet, in semi-pro it's up to you the promoter to set the standards. Simply get in touch with local gyms to see if they have fighters interested in fighting on your shows... Usually home fighters are on a ticket sales commission - ie £10 per ticket, and away boxers are on a set purse - ie £150 or whatever for 3x2mins.
When promoting semi-pro you need to insist on setting good health and safety standards anything from door staff, medical staff, experienced referee, seating layout, insurance, etc. Cutting corners tends to bite you in the arse eventually.
Thanks for the reply, alot of help!
Well I have recently been speaking to a guy from the same area as me who has been promoting kickboxing, mma, and white collar boxing.
I have been told best bet is to start with White collar, as their is not so much rules and regs? But obviously once I have web given the experience and hosted a few of my own shows I would like to get into pro one day.
Have sent of covering letter/cv to many companies, but will definatley contact bbbc and have words with my trainer.
Regard,
Tom
