Derry City, N.Ireland has a new "World Champion. Daniel "Pinta" Quigley of PT's Kickboxing gym, Quigley took the "ISKA" World Heavyweight Professional Kickboxing title last night (5th March) in St Columbs Hall, Derry City, on thoroughly deserved unanimous points win over French Fighter, Pacome Assi. Daniel is not only the first Derryman but also the first Irishman to hold this prestigious title.
Also on the same bill fellow Derryman, Aidan "Lights Out" Lafferty who won the "ISKA" Commonwealth Light Middleweight title with his opponent, Steve Freeman ( Eclipse Gym Wolverhampton ) retiring in his corner at the end of the 3rd round due to a continuous onslaught from Lafferty.
There was joy for "ISKA" Middle & Light Middleweight champion, Letterkenny's Tommy "The Ghost" McCafferty who had a Knock out win in round 2, over Nouridinne Gahjji of France.
With 8 thoroughly entertaining amateur bouts on the bill. This truly remarkable World class show was watched by 1000 ecstatic fight fans who will surely be looking forward to Tommy McCafferty's challenge for the ISKA Super Welterweight title in the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal on 4th June.
Public relation officer Sean McGill for PT's kickboxing gym said afterwards that Paddy Toland (Promoter) must be commended for raising the bar once again in Irish Kickboxing.
Special guest on the night was current European Light Welterweight Champion, & local Paul "Dudey" McCloskey. Mc Closkey challenges Bolton's Amir Khan for the WBA Light Welterweight title on April 16th.
