with thai new year aproaching on the 13th -15th im so gutted to be missing it again, have any of you guys been to songkran in chiang mai, it has to be the best place to party, to all you guys on ax sawadee bee mai! where is the best place you have experienced songkran?

ive done Pattaya ( never again) and Bangkok ( was good but also too mad ) ive been told same its chiang mai the place to be at Songkran

bpee then sandy, as there is no direct translation and is phonetic there is no right or wrong way to spell thai but spell as it as it sounds, AUA who i studied thai with spell it bpee.

been over loads but never gone in April and also never been to Chiang Mai either, not sure why really! would love to experience Songkran! next year maybe :)

I've done it a few times. The best time was in Pitsanulok (Half way between Bangkok and Chiang Mai).

I plan my trips to avoid it now. I'll be there on the 19th when normal service returns.

i find it daft up in Isaan entire towns of people chucking water on the road while behind them hundreds of acres of rice fields lie barren and dry like a dustbowl.
