This looks like a good fight card. I have been following K-1 for years but i never had the chance to get an insight on the British kickboxing scene (since i am not from the UK).

So what about Rob Storey and Daniel Sam? Any info, such as height weight and record available? I have watched some of their fights on youtube and they both look good.

Good luck to all the fighters.

1. Adrian Crookendale (Singdayt) won points against Pete (mmta)
Adrian kneed the granny out of Pete all rounds. Bright future ahead of Adrian if he sticks to it.

2.Neil Williams (Team Tieu) won TKO round 4 against Samuel Awuku. Samuel Come in hard and fast first two rounds with some acrobatic dolph chan jackie lee moves and gassed big time taking some heavy shots before being stopped in the fourth.

3. Cant remember result (missed the fight) but heard Thom Willmot (Touch Gloves) was the more skilled fighter against Jerome Clark (Red Dragons) Not suprised coming from a good gym.

4. Ryan Li (Team Tieu) won points against Mohamed (Like To Fight). Was a good tough fight from both guys. Well done.

5. Ben Woods (MMA Clinic) V Zeeshan Haider (ko gym). I think it was a draw.

6. David Tieu (Team Tieu) Beat Cian Cowley (Warriors gym Ireland) on points winning ISKA Title. Was tough for David but he fought strong and had more skill.

7. Luke Kirk (Independant) Beat Rory Crawford (Keddles) (cant remember if it was points).

8. Faridin Karaglan ( Team Tieu) beat Talgart Orlov (Singdayt gym) on points. Nice thai style fromn from fighters.

9. David Sa (mmta) Beat Aaron Jameson (Red Dragons) on points. Red Dragons team apparantly had a tear up with judges as they felt the dicision was wrong.

10. Marco Bee (ko gym) beat Anton Melenevski (team tieu) on points.

11. Carlton Lieu (team tieu) beat Sean Clancey (siam warriors ireland) on points. Alot of skill shown by carlton. Good future ahead of him.

12. Anabel (Keddles) beat Lucy Payne (touch gloves) on points. Lucy a good fighter showing good skills. And she had half the male crowd talking about how they would love to ? **** ***...... ;)

13. Daniel Terry (team tieu) beat (cant remember his name from salford muay thai) on points dominating the whole fight with pure class. Never seen someine as fit as Daniel. Really one to look out for. Daniel Terry ISKA english champ.

14. Abdul Yassine (ko gym) beat Brian Murphy (Dublin gym) 4th round (I think) KO. Brian was rocked and sustained hit the floor hard with his head sustaining a bad injury. For a short period it looked like he was dead. And when he came through he started kicking the paramedics while on his back. Glad he came through.

15. Daniel Sam (mmta) beat Thanasis Micholodis (greece) TKO round 4 I think. Thanasis had potential but couldnt keep up with 140kg of flying knees. Daniel Sam is a monster and he had about 7-8 corner men. He even screamed WOOF on the mic at the end lol.

16. Rob Storey (keddles) beat Prudenco Ayight (sweden) points I think in what was a great fight from both fighters. Rob showing us all being 47 years old doesnt mean a thing.

17. Aaron O' Collaghen beat Mathew Tieu (team tieu) tko round one. Ref stopped the fight as the cut was too bad. Pity as it had potential to be a very good fight from both fighters. Aaron O; Collaghen new ISKA four nations champion.

18. Alexis Rufus (keddles) won points against Johanna Rydberg (Sweden). Fight went all 5 rounds at a tough hard fast pace with Alexis dominating every round and tr4ying to elbowing her opponent non stop. Shes a pitbull Alexis is. Hard as nails.

19. Greg Wooton (ko gym) beat Maros Pacan (Slovakia) on points. Greg dominated the whole fight. Maros done well not to get knocked out. Greg is too much and has improved so much on each fight. If Greg carries on like this him and Harrsion maybe seeing each other in the ring in the near future.

Was a good show and well run. Nice venue. Some sexy slutty ring girls who seemed to be trying it on with Dave Fensom who was commentating. Saw Rob Cox in the crowd too which was a suprise. Was even more suprised to see Sugar Ray Leonard there too (must have known someone there)who done a brilliant job of keeping a very low profile. Must say him and his friends seemed to have loved the show.

Well done to all fighters involved. Was a great day out and well worth the long trip down to London. These Scala shows just seem to get better and better.

Loved the write up Peter bar, but im 118kg not 140kg like i was at christmas.
Cant comment on the no. of cornermen, it looked like three to me (lol).
I bellowed OSU afterwards on the mic but no worries.
All in all it was a good, well run show as always.
Big up to Team Tieu and all the other gyms who came out to support.

p.s. Greg's classical Thai style with gruelling knees and clinchwork was a joy to watch.

Daniel was working Michaloudis out in rnd 1, and was behind, then turned it up, and dominated from there on until the stoppage.

Hi D.T.B Sorry I didnt give a thorugh detailed description about all the fights. In all fairness yes Abdul did try and stomp on Brians head. That was bang out of order. Also if you want my personal opinion I prefered Brians fighting style than Abduls. Brian attemnpted alot of various elbow techniques where as Abdul probably threw just a handfull in the whole fight. Brian was more of a technical fighter where as Abdul was a brawler. I wanted Brian to win and everytime an elbow was thrown I wish it landed. No offence to Abdul. Brian was just the fighter I chose to win and did so because he seemed to be more of a Thai fighter and more enjoyable to watch. And that just MY opinion. Infact I will have to say all the Irish lads were tough as nails and in no way was any of their fights easy.

Jonno V Depesh didnt happen as one of them was injured.

When is the next show? There needs to be more than just a handful in one year.

Really enjoyed the show and the quality of fights was so high! Even the C-Class fights were a great standard!!

Some definite stars of the future there, gotta big up Carlton Lieu, definite future champion and such a nice humble lad outside the ring too. Display's classy technique and a confidence in the ring way above his age and experience. A real credit to Phil Tieu!

2nd time I've seen Adrian Crookendale fight and I'm impressed. This lad is so tall for 60kg's and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. I don't know a lot about the gym but the guys seem to be schooling him well so I think we'll see a lot more of this lad in the future.

Thom Willock is another lad who showed great skills and composure. Great awareness of balance and timing in the clinch which is good to see and you can see he's trained in Thailand. Look forward to seeing him fight at 57kg's as I believe that's where he's heading.

Neil William's is a tallented southpaw, remind's me of that Yod style with his monster legs and massive left kick! Weathered the storm well and was just starting to get going when he stopped his guy. This lads got more than he could show in this fight, watch this space!

Ryan Li and Ibs had a war! Loved it! lol..

Farridin V's Orlov was great to watch and not C-Class standard at all. In fact a lot of the C-Class could've been B-Class easily!

The Ben Woods and Zeeshan Haider fight was awesome to watch, proper tear up and glad they got a draw as both lads gave it 100% and should be proud!

Daniel Terry is obscenely conditioned, you can tell he's a personal trainer! Awkward style and lighting quick reactions and shots. Looked very classy when scoring then ducking back out of the way of the counter. Class to watch! His opponent was no push over and showed some great skills, really entertaining fight to watch! Would like to see James Snelling take on one of these two as he's a force at this weight too and would be a great match for either lad (not sure if thats already happened or not?)

Lucy Payne is always a joy to watch, great technique and style, I thought she'd done enough to win but I'm no judge. Annabel was relentless and took it on effectiveness of knee's I'm told.

Daniel Sam was just always going to be way too powerful for the Greek lad. No disrespect to him as he looked decent but Daniel seemed a league above! His power is awesome and scary to hear the thuds as he throws that straight right and massive knee to follow!! Must be like getting hit by a bus!!! Will be good to see him in Showtime as I think he can cause some major upset to the lads there!!

Rob Storey was class and showed that with old age comes wisdom and experience, reminded me of a shorter, bald, Mr Miyagi ;-) All jokes aside he showed class in working out exactly what his opponent had and then upsetting him with some cracking elbows. Always entertaining to watch and the crack from the first elbow bouncing off the Swedish lads head could be heard outside I reckon! After that the Swede was on the back foot and didn't want to play elbows so Storey gave him some more.

Was a shame Abdul and Brian's fight got a bit messy but I think the lads just wanted it so bad that they got a bit heated. When I was watching ringside IMO I thought Brian's kick as Abdul was heading to the floor was legal and something well timed that you see in Thailand all the time. However when Abdul stamped the bottom of his foot on Brian's face when he was down it was a dirty illegal move. It's a shame when people go that far and go against the true spirit of Muay Thai. To comment on the fight though, I've seen Brian in action before and he's a good technical lad, entertaining to watch. If you give him time he'll pick you off. Abdul didn't make that mistake and pressured him well and the game plan worked for him. Hope Brian's back in there soon!

I was gutted for Matty Tieu as he's one tof the sports nicest and most tallented fighters! So humble outside the ring yet sheer class in there! This would've been such a war and I've heard good things about Aaron O'Collagen, he's clearly an elbow master! This was only Matty's second full rules fight but I hope these lads get it on again some time in the future as this fight will be awesome! Aaron hit Matty with two successive elbows, the first almost knocked Matty out and the second seemed to bring him back again! Unfortunately the second left a large cut and the fight was stopped. Like I said, would love to see these lads in a rematch sometime!

Alexis was her usual pitbull self! Relentless and pressured Johanna the whole way through. Credit has to go to the Swedish girl as Alexis has real power and only the toughest can stay in there with her and Johanna did well and gave her a battle! Alexis dislocated her toe halfway yet kept kicking her way through the rest of the fight! True warrior!!

Greg was...well....Greg! He showed dominance from start to finish, pure class! Great display of technique, timing and distance. Don't know how his opponent stayed upright after some of those knees! I could feel them from where I was sat! Joy to watch and such a tallented fighter.

Dean, I think Jonno had to pull out due to the nasty cut he picked up in his last fight. I'm sure the lads will get it on at a later date, would be a good fight!

Someone said to me his highlight of the night was seeing Julie Kitchen oiling up Lucy Payne through the window of the changing rooms! I'm not commenting on that but all I will say is it ticked a box for me ;-)

Well done Phil for great organisation and smooth running of the show and your fighter's were your biggest credit last night mate x

Stefan Nilsson here; Johanna Rydberg´s coach .
Wanna thank everybody for a great show.
Was a pleasure to come and fight in London.
Unfortunely we lost both our fights, but I guess that’s the plan when taking in foreigners, he he
Regarding Johanna’s fight I have to say that Alexis was to strong. Johanna is used to be the aggressor and stronger fighter, but in this fight she had to fight on her back foot.
Jo is a natural 51 kilo fighter and had to eat herself up to “make” the weight. I think she was weighing in at 53 kg with her clothes on, day before the fight.
Enough with excuses he he , Alexis was the better fighter and we congratulate her.
Hope you want us back again. I have heard that you have a great fighters in -51, Ruth Ashdown, Jo Calderwood to mention a few :)

Hi Stefan, Johanna certainly was tough! I think she'd give either of the girls mentioned a great fight!! Your 61kg lad was really good too but Rob Storey just showed his experience in the end (He has got a MASSIVE age advantage over most fighters!!! lol).
Fensom
Posted: 2011-06-21 04:24:54
Haha yeah Liam! I got bullied by an agressive little red dragon who threatened to shoot one of the judges and then when I said wasn't gonna fight him he teeped me!!! lol..

Shame some people lose the muay thai spirit in the heat of the moment. Maybe someone can set that up on a future show and pay me a purse and I'd be well up for it! ;-)

p.s. wonder if that'll make the dvd???

Thanks for having us on the show Phil ,

Greg's performance was clinical destruction . I could not fault it !

Regatding Abdul v Brian

Abdul is a respectful young man ,One of the most popular , humble kids i have ever trained (and i have trained a few !) . This was only his fifth fight going striaght to A class as a replacement for Ash . Despite the fact he raised his foot it was never his intent to make contact . He did not make contact just a bit of misplaced bravado !.

As for the tumble over the thigh . Good legal Technique as was Brian;s follow up well timed and placed .IMHO

My concern is for Brian . it was a nasty knockout . our pre fight ritual always pray that all fighters come throught without serious injury and fight to the best of his /her abilty .

I second you on that Fensom with regards to Neil Williams. He was most definitly a pleasure to watch. Second time I have seen him fight and yes his kicks are like Yods. He has some devestating left body kicks.

He had a very awkward fighter, seemed to listen to his corner well which worked nicely giving him the victory he deserved. Above his level really and in my opinion should be fighting at a B class level.

Thanks for the concerns bill brian is fine he was back in the gym tonight training and will be taking his wednesday night class,he/we learned a lot from this fight and will be back stronger for the next one.

As for misplaced bravado,it was a clear stamp on the head as even the commentator has mentioned in the posts above.well done to abdul he had a game plan stuck to it and won the fight,we have meet him before and he is a nice lad.both lads could possible fight again over in Dublin some time.End of im not gonna post on it anymore.

Thanks to philip for having us over sound guy and his brothers too.

Sawatdee Khrup!

Another excellent show from Team Tieu and always a pleasure to referee.
Just to clarify on the Brian v Abdul fight (and I won't be answering or commentating further on it):
Abdul did follow through with a kick/stamp towards Brian's head following a takedown. The angle that I was at meant I didn't see any contact however that does not mean there wasn't any. I looked a Brian who appeared in hurt and promptly gave Abdul a firm warning. Although it may have looked it, I did not believe that Abdul meant this with bad intent and was caught in the heat of the moment due to his inexperience. This however does not excuse these actions but I judge each infringement dependent upon the severity and in this case felt that to disqualify would have been an overreaction based on the fact that although intent was there injury had not been sustained. Regarding the 'throws' they were all legal 'lift and pivot' and over the knee techniques and as such no warnings required. What is important is that Brian has recovered. He is a very talented young fighter and will definitely return stronger.

Let's not take the glory away from Abdul either as he fought to a plan which I feel upset Brian rhythm and before he could change it he was caught and lost on this occasion.

Well said Shaun x

Can't believe I missed out a comment of David Tieu's fight!!! This lad is a power house at 67kg's and makes it easily! Could probably fight at 63.5kg's and would be scary at that weight. Dave had an awkwardly tall Irish opponent but I thought he controlled the fight well the whole way through. He took a teep to the face from the Irish lad early on which scratched his right eye and seemed to be bugging him slightly but he kept his cool and stuck to what he does best. Dave was left kicking well and then using the left leg to cross block or teep straight after. This seemed to take the Irish lad out of his game as he was forever thinking about what Dave was doing and it seemed to upset him game plan. No major surprise to anyone that's seen David Tieu fight before that in the clinch he was clearly the stronger. I think people forget (or don't believe!) that this way only Dave's 2nd or 3rd fight!!! He's fighting B-Class and I can't wait to see him on the A-Class circuit soon ;-)

David Tieu is always a joy to watch fight and has a real love of muay thai which shows when he's in the ring and also in his attitude out of the ring! That's what muay thai is all about, looking forward to seeing him in action again soon.
