Also want to ask if these guys that lost to the burmese are any good

Saw Ther Myo (Twante)
The Year 2000 Gold Belt Champion of Myanma Traditional Boxing (Lightweight)
Knocked out first round
Alberto Ramirez
Two Times Champion of the International Sport Combat Federation (ISCF)
Nice pictures.
Thanks DYNAMO
HOLY $#!T!!!!!!!!
How old are those??
Shannon Ritch is a grappler/MMA fighter. He recently lost to Frank Shamrock in an exhibition K-1 rules bout on a K-1 card in Japan. Got an injured shoulder from a kick or something. He puts Muay Thai on his resume but he's not known for being a great striker on his feet.
Well the fights took place in summer this year in Yangoon.
Especialy the Wan Chai guy I heard is very good he also knocked out many Thais in Thailand/but refuses to fight in gloves/.Here is a picture of him nice looking guy.
Why did some of the fighters wear MMA gloves?
I have no idea, I guess they liked the gloves better, than the hand wraps which I think it was a big mistake.
Isn't Burmese Boxing full MT rules with head Butts - If I remember correctly the IKF was looking for fighters to go last year to Burma to fight. I think that the IKF would not sanction the fight cause it would be too hard to get that sanctioned anywhere else. Let me know if I am correct.
Big D
it is, plus very bizzare throws.
Nice pics Dynamo...
You must have rec. a video or seen this on TV.
If you were THERE, you would have seen what we've seen.
To read all about this event and what all happened, see this page;
http://www.ikfkickboxing.com/Myanmar.htm
Also, the first picture above is a picture of Doug Evans getting KNEED "After" the referee had put his hands on Doug's shoulders and yelled for them to "Break".
Keep in mind, the IKF and ISCF did NOT Sanction this event. We have nothing to gain by our comments, so just consider them as our own experience being there in person.
We were invited there by the promoter to "Witness" the event and assist in the officials, however, when Evans was fouled, ALL the officials IGNORED our obvious protest.
Read the article and you'll get an idea as to our thought to this event...
I'm sure Burmese Boxing is much Like Thai Boxing IKF.
Its the refs job to stop them. Getting hit after the bell is something that happens and its the refs job to controle it(and the fighters jobs to protect themselves). If it has already happened then it has happened and unless it has a major effect on the fight no ones gonna complain about it.
MuayThai and I'm sure Bando are much different than kickboxing.
Reffed differently too. Unless I am missing something(like a knock out) it seems noramal enough.
http://www.ikfkickboxing.com/Myanmar.htm
I just read your article and i cant beleive you guys picked Alberto Rameraz to fight a Burmese boxing event. I could have told you way before hand that Alberto would puss out. He pussys out in Muay thai events how could he handle himself in a no gloves contest. Another thing in your article said he beat bryan delisser in a fight, well unless they fought before the one i saw of them two, Alberto did not win he pussyd out in that one too!
I have more stories of Him .....but enough Alberto Bashin Hes a Jiner.
Alberto does boggle my mind. He seems like a nice guy and he certainly looks very talented.
I have seen some of what Sawtanang is talking about altough i did here of a recent fight were he was getting knocked down and kept getting up to fight untill the ref finally stopped it.
Against Scott Shaffer maybe.
Sometimes fighters just lose it. He certainly got his skills from soewere but I have seen him quit a few times and heard of plenty of others.
Maybe hes snapped out of it now...who knows. Maybe something happened in a fight and messed him up some how.
All i know is that he looks very good but hasn't followed through.
He lost to Brian Delisser. I was at the fight. He was on his way to winning in my opinion but Brian wasn't giving up and he 'had a leg cramp' or something.
I hope the recent fight were he kept going even though he was getting beat is what he will be in the future. other wise I don't think he should fight cause it certainly doesn't look good for him or for the game.
Mark L,
I was there, and I know what the styles are like.
The shot Evans took was WELL AFTER the ref grabbed him from behind to break them up. Doug went down and couldn't move. The ref actually "Counted" him out and they called it a Knockout. It was a TERRIBLE CALL! Again, keep in mind I have NOTHING to gain here supporting Doug, just the truth of what I say in person at the event, at ringside.
Sawtanang,
Maybe you should have gone, however since the bouts included HEADBUTTS and small NHB/MMA gloves, you probably would say no as well. The promoter asked us to find fighters who would fight such rules. He needed a fighter at Alberto's weight and he was the ONLY one to say yes. Sure, "AFTER" the event several said, Oh I would have went..." Well... sure...
Hey, he went, he lost, end of story. Again, I have nothing to gain here, just telling you what "REALLY" happened in response to all those pictures above.
IKF-Thats no good.
I wasn't there but a blow well after the bell that finnished the fight.
Doesn't sound good.
from what i read at your web site, He diddnt go and lose he went and jined out...as usual.
No i wouldnt go either, I was asked to fight Muay Pra maa but i said not unless they give me alot more than they offered.
is it possible to sanction something like this in the US?
if you try to pass it off as kickboxing with smaller gloves and throws, you'll be tarred and feathered.
on the otherhand, if you present it as a throwing sport with strikes, you might be safe. the extended holding alone will limit the number of strikes. therefore one could argue that although smaller gloves are less safe than larger gloves, getting hit 10 times a round is safer than getting hit 50 times [or whatever the actual statistic may be]. also, professionals only and lose the headbutts.
I think each year in the border regions they have the best Thai fighters against the best Burmese fighters. That would get going.
I don't know if its the best. Its certainly good fighters and not just anyone but it seems to be fighters from the boarder town areas to me(or at least closish)...though I don't really know.
Sawtanang-what do you think.
Yep, sorry I meant best fighters from the border areas.
The best fighters from the borders would probably stick to the rings in Bnagkok.
But the fighters are deffenitly good.
(c-yak was a burmese Champion)
Thats what I kinda thought.
Its all about money really.
'C-yak'(obviously spelt as sounds) is a very nice guy. I was lucky enough to watch him fight a few times. My last proper fight in Thailand was against a guy he fought. Though to be honest no one would bet with me when I wanted to bet on him against the guy I later ended up fighting.
There are some pics of him on the Thai pics thread and Thailand pics 2. Or something like that.

the first 4 pics are him-I don't think this is gonna work
since I don't think it'll work and i found them I'll just bring them to the front
Talking about bad calls I have one.
In a very good bout the fighters were exchanging blows, a clasic slug fest ,but one guy dicided to play a little dirty. He kicked the other guy in the nuts twice in the row, the guy that got kicked lifts his arm up to tell refree he got kicked, but ref starts counting him/he was not dazed or anything ,just wanted to complain/. It was a draw on the scorcards up to this point. Nice one
Sometime the refs are pure dickheads.
I have red the article before, I also red the article in the Myanmar news. Aside from the bad call from the third match I think there was no major flaws in the matches. In the second match: The fact that Eh thee kaw did not get counted was just to the advantage of Shannon. Ref did not give him a standing 8 count which did not give him time to recover and the ref litterally pulled him in the middle of the ring when he was still in the dream land, it was Shanonn´s fault he fell for this one as the burmese are known to play the dazziness ,it was a beautifull knee and Shannon was out.
The third match: To say Wan Chai lost is as unfair as to say Doug did not get kicked in the balls. Except the one body slam Doug did not do nothing to give him victory. I personaly think it should be no contest even if the groin kicks are frequent in Burmese boxing and MT/not after the break call/. Simply put the ref was miles off. I hope the rematch will happen but Wan Chai is no wuss. I hope the IKF will keep us informed about the rematches.
To take away the head butts from burmese boxing is like to taking away the elbows from MT.
We agree Dynamo.
No doubt, these guys were TOUGH Fighters!
I agree with Dynamo. Ritch and Ramirez lost, period. As far as Evans is concerned, it is a shame he lost the way he did however....whatever happened to protecting yourself AT ALL TIMES? This means from any type of attack.
It's a bit naive to think that the Burmese officials were going to be completely fair. That's like saying the Chinese will be fair. I mean do you really think they are going to risk looking bad in front of the whole country? Think about that one...
As far as the IKF's suggestions that the Burmese eliminate headbutts and add gloves....well, this is a typical American (I am also American) way of thinking. Asians and ESPECIALLY the Burmese do not want to change anything about a sport they consider THEIR'S. Why should they change their sport? Why should they eliminate headbutts for another countries benefit? The sport has been doing fine for years without outside support so really, think about it, why do they want to change something that they love? Yes, it is just like asking the Thai's to no longer use elbow's....If you want to fight Traditional Myanmar style boxing, then continue what I applaude you for doing no matter what the outcome - Fight by THEIR rules. It would be great if everyone would do this with Muay Thai as well....I mean, how can someone call what they are doing Muay Thai if you are not elbowing and you can't grapple?
Well said on all counts.
Protect yourself at all times doesn't mean don'y for awhile to have a nice chat with the ref either. Or when the bell goes and you drop your hands and get nailed. Protect yourself at ALL times.
Agreed with the points on fighting Muay Pra Maa.
It never ceases to amaze me how American's and Europeans need to change a sport that has been around for centuries but more importantly, then "tell" the originator (Myanmar) that they think the sport would be great and popular if they would change it. Myanmar and Thailand doesn't NEED America or Europe. Their own fighting styles will go on regardless. So perhaps it's time to pull the ostriches head out of the sand.
I got an email from a guy not long ago who made it a point to have me recommend a hotel that only used DSL and was still cheap. As this is not the norm here in Thailand I told him to stay home....The American's way is not the only or the best way and Myanmar probably doesn't give a rat's ass about your protest....Get over it....What else can you do....Stating that Doug Evans "defeated" Wan Chai is horseshit though....yes, read it again...USA news flash......Wan Chai won the fight however fair or unfair. Doug Evans did not defeat anyone on that day I'm sorry to say. BTW, who wrote the IKF article? Was it Mr. Fossum himself? Sure seemed self serving to me and it makes the IKF come off as if they are whining.
I'm sure that at least two of the guys who went to Myanmar are excellent fighters and will learn from the experience. It's only one fight and there will be more. This time the call went one way. Perhaps the next will go the other.
Thai Boxing and Burmese Boxing are not the same as kickboxing.
If you fight the first two you should understand what the game is and not complain when its different to what you are use to.

I hope you are not thinking that the Thai's didn't change muay thai and model it after western boxing.
Boxing trunks
Boxing gloves
Square ring
Mouth guards
3 minute rounds
Here we go again???? Matt...
Mark L. How are you doing? Have you got any new MT techniques?
Do you think they changed because someone asked them or told them to or was it because they did so of their own accord? My guess is they did it because they wanted to and not because an organization like the IKKF suggested it.
Sawatdee Krap Bunjerd.
Yes I have. I learned a few new things the other day. Always trying to learn something new.
Ah-ja pue-un(Ajan Nong-umper Thoen, Lampang) ma ni. Son Muay gup pom. Pom tilasap one-ee. Mr Nong au ma ni ging ging. Pee na ah-ja mi song khon Thai son Muay gup pom. Mr. Nong se-bi se-bi. Son dee mak. Jup pow dee mak. Took one sanuck/se-bi.
Kow jai mi?
I wonder if you can figure that out? :)
If I'm lucky and everything works I'll have two Thais here to help me teach at the gym. My old trainer from Thailand and my friend Kun Suk who was here not so long ago.
I figured it out........ very slowly.
MT news I see it the same way.
Sawtanang-hehe Like a puzzel trying to figure that out eh?
Dear Mr. editor@muaythainews.com
In response to your attack/reply above;
To begin with, “THEY ASKED US”… “How can we get our sport into America? What rules do you feel we need to change? Would you (IKF) sanction our sport around the world?”
You see, we answered THEIR questions. We didn’t “TELL” them to change their sport. They ASKED us HOW can their sport be presented in America and HOW can it be sanctioned by the IKF. I believe our answers not only speak for themselves but EXPLAIN WHY as well. There was no “Strong Arm, America’s way or no way here!” Man, I hate when someone accuses ANY American of such things.
In addition, you seemed to think that “WE”, America and Europe think Myanmar and Thailand NEEDS US. Far from the truth. In fact, I don’t believe we need them either. Now don’t ATTACK back at that line, but hey, I believe there are GREAT Fighters ALL OVER THE WORLD! Especially in the sport of MuayThai because I’ve seen enough to know. I’ve seen both good and bad fighters in Myanmar and Thailand just like everywhere else.
Of course their fighting styles will go on regardless. HOWEVER, I believe you may need to pull the ostriches head out of the sand because it wasn’t like we were BEGGING them to come to America. Again… “THEY ASKED US!” And again, stop making America and Europe look like the EVIL THIEFS of Myanmar and Thailand’s styles of fighting.
In regards to: “The American's way is not the only or the best way and Myanmar probably doesn't give a rat's ass about your protest.”
Well, EXACTLY our point. Which is why they will stay in Myanmar and not get outside Myanmar as they asked us to help them with. MANY of us have witnessed BAD JUDGING and BAD OFFICIALS. But this was the HEAD of an organization. To ignore such an act is to destroy your own work. No, they don’t need us. For what was good about the experience, we wrote about. They had some GREAT TOUGH Fighters. However, what their officials allowed to happen was not justified. NOT BY ANT OFFICIAL!!! They hurt themselves on that weekend without any AMERICAN doing so.
As far as our post about “Doug Evans "defeated" Wan Chai is horseshit though”
Well Mr. HS, “You were not there!” As everyone here knows, many people talk about their opinions here, and ours was first hand. Personally, I don’t give a “Rats Ass” whether you believe us or even care. We had nothing to gain and nothing to lose here. However, you feel we did. So in your own words, “Get Over IT!”
For the record, If I were in charge as a ringside official at this event, the ruling would have “Probably” been a “No contest” since it was in the first round if I remember correctly. However, it could have EASILY been an “Intentional Foul Win” for Evans as well since it was AFTER the Referees break call AND the referee was already “Pulling” Evans away. If anything, the REFEREE made a TERRIBLE decision “AFTER” it happened. (“Counting on Evans and then raising Wan Chai’s hand) Worse yet, the ringside officials didn’t over-rule him or at least call the officials together for a simple “What did you see” question to all. This is the proper protocol for a chief ringside representative in such a case. Heck, I saw it clearly. It wasn’t questionable at all. ANY AMATEUR or BEGINNING OFFICIAL as well as ANY fan could see what happened. The terrible thing was that they Allowed it to be the final call. TERRIBLE!
One thing is VERY CLEAR though, “Wan Chai DID NOT WIN!
In regards to your comment;
“ Sure seemed self serving to me and it makes the IKF come off as if they are whining.”
Whining? Self Serving? Is this another AMERICA Attack? Hey, we will say AGAIN, We had NOTHING to gain here and didn’t try to gain ANYTHING! End of story. Who won who lost will not and never will help or hurt the IKF in anyway. The IKF did not coach anyone nor did we sanction the event and in the end, we surly didn’t have any say in regards to official decisions. As far as being “Self Serving” to me, Steve Fossum? Here we go again…. Get over it! What did I have to gain here????
My final point, I was angry as heck that Evans was done wrong, as I am with ANY Fighter. If you would have been Evans, I would have been just as angry for you, and I don’t even know who you are… It’s TERRIBLE when the officials DO NOT do the right thing for a fighter or ANYONE for that matter.
can i go off on a tangent
(tee hee try stop me!)
What's with the myanmar/burma Rangoon /Yanroon name changes?
I've noticed some people have adopted the new names and others haven't.
I myself haven't decided where i stand in the arguement as i'm not informed enough to come to a educated conclusion,
but if any off you here have been inside burma recently i'd love to know more,
about the boxing the people and the politcs.
I was under the impression westerners were not recommended to visit and not often given visa's or not allowed to stay for very long.
is this true?
What do the burmese people refer to themselves as, maynmarians?? or burmese?
and what is the main differences between Muaythai and Burmese boxing?
feed me info please.
I got jiner from ,Boom Boom,Brackenbury
Vagina=pussy=pussyed out=jiner
probably spelt wrong.
And i think the official name is Myanmar but some people dont reconize it because of the communist regiem there.
right, vag/ jiner got ya.
lol
i thought you meant he was a joiner and wondered whar his trade had to do with anything??
i've read some good arguements against the name change
(or was that against the kampuchea name for cambodia?)
I have been to 'Burma'. New names take time to catch on and as far as I remember most people I ran into in S.E. Asia still called it Burma.
I don't remeber asking any Burmese though.
The border was sometimes closed while I was in Thailand. Though we did go across for a little while. We had to be back with-in the day if I remember right.
We went across at Mai Sot for anyone who is curious. The Thais in general don't think well of the Burmese. There was some fighting while we were there. But I found the Burmese to be very friendly and not pushy in the market. At the border we asked how to say hello etc while they were checking us out and we were filling out forms etc.
I had a great experiance and really wanted to go back for longer and to learn more.
Unfortunatly I didn't get to see and 'Bando' but they certainly do have fights..though I couldn't get how often out of the guy.
I would love to go back. I really don't know much about Burma but I enjoyed myself and the people seemed great. Its cheaper than Thailand and poorer too.
Somewhat of a scary place and not as stable as Thailand.
The writing and language was really interesting. It was almost all its own. i mean it didn't really sound like anythig else I've heard and the lettering too was quite unique.
Sorry I can't say much more...
Sawtanang has seen some bare hand fights with Thais vs Burmese...though I'd like to see Burmese fight Burmese...
thanks mark,
i've not start studing burma yet but if i find anything out in the future i'll try to remember to share it with youo.
I do know from the thai news papers that Burma and Thailand are trying to co-operate with one another over drugs problems, but their relationship is a bit tense. And thailand seems to think it's all burma's fault.
i think it's burma (but not positive) that has a person under house arrest as she won elections and the ruling elite tend not to like that kind of thing.
i need to read up more but i can't seem to find enough time to read and to surf alday!!
back to the books then,
toots
toots-that rings abell. I remember talking to someone about someone hiding out in a house. they went to visit her even. I wish i had a better memory.
It was pretty cool. We were talking a asking questions at the border and they were happy to answer. Things like how to say hello and thank you. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that many places.
There was a fair bit of fighting while I was in Thailand. thailand always seem to be on top and Burma always seem to start it. But that info was from Thai TV so you never know for sure. Never mind the fact that I didn't understand the TV. :) But people would fill us in.
Aung san suu kyi was under house arrest for a long time for fighting communism and trying to promote democracy.
I beleive she was put under house arrest again.
Im suprised that no democratic country has tryed to help the burmese by instating the democracy that has been voted in. I guess theres not enough oil there. Seems only the American government will only help countrys when theres something in it for them.
As in Thailand the gap between rich and poor is large but everybody seems happy and eats for the most part.
The Burmese VS burmese boxing is wild. Although it is sloppy its balls out from begining to end
Muay Thai News...
It is a shame that you choose to see it from the "American vs the world" perspective only. It makes is difficult for me to consider offering my thoughts because they will likely be filtered out by your brain as an "American thought" and therefore discarded. I hate being American for this very reason, because of attitudes such as yours. I wish I lived in Antarctica or some other place where you don't have a prejudiced opinion about the inhabitants.
definition: Prejudice
1) : preconceived judgment or opinion (2) : an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge b : an instance of such judgment or opinion c : an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics
Brian
antartica would be way to cold Brian.
"Seems only the American government will only help countrys when theres something in it for them."
No shit sherlock. Why should we help a shit hole like Burma? We don't need any rubber trees.
and we get shit for rubbing our nose in everyones business. remember that?
damned if you do,damned if you don't.
Muay Thai News,
I don't really mind a lot of your posts, but Brian wrote what was on my mind too. When you write something like "It never ceases to amaze me how American's and Europeans need to change a sport that has been around for centuries but more importantly, then "tell" the originator (Myanmar) that they think the sport would be great and popular if they would change it." you are getting off the topic and starting to insult character. That's uncalled for. I'm not American nor European, but I know enough about communication to know that statements like that only get people defensive, or, like Brian said, not wishing to post. We are all allowed our opinion, but don't try and judge someone's character until you really know them, which goes beyond a chat board. So be humble, and learn from what we are saying.
Cheers.
Well MuayThainews is American. That should give a little slack shouldn't it?
And Vince, you do live in America. :P
Hey, no need to call me prejudice.
Instead of painting me to be a american basher, why dont you tell me why america wont help them?
Probably because theres nothing in it for them. you seem to agree Matt.
Although there would be something in it for them.... the golden triangle operated by the drug lord Khun sa is the largest producer of opium in the world.
He is supported by the burmese commys and has a big army!! An amazing documentery was done on him and his small country they the golden triangle.
i guess i should have full filled my sentence by saying why doesnt the americans or any other country help them. Because i dont beleive Its america VS the world.
Touchy touchy :p
Sawtanang,
Again, "YOUR" missing the point!
"THEY" asked me to come over to see where we (IKF or ISCF) could help.
It wasn't like I wanted to take a vacation there and it was anything but a vacation!!!
The promoter was a great guy and did his best to make everyone in our group comfortable. Maybe you need to read the FULL article again. WE DID TRY to help them!!! They asked for suggestions "BEFORE" the foul in question. We didn't "TELL" anyone to "CHANGE"! They asked for our opinions and we gave them.
So, your wrong in thinking we didn't try to help, we did. It was "THEM", their own officials that hung themselves with what they did. It was wrong, they "KNEW" it was wrong and they did nothing to correct it. "THIS" is my point. If you "KNOW" something went wrong, "Do the right thing!" It's not too much to ask. But they didn't, and then rubbed it in our faces in the headlines of the next days news. Again, "YOU WERE NOT THERE!" There was "A LOT" more to this in regards to what all they did than we wrote about. Remember, we had nothing to gain.
And in closing, I believe every country has something "GREAT" about it. But when you cross the line here and attack America, remember, we are VERY sensative now after Sept.11th. And VERY defensive as well!
EVERYONE who knows a little about history knows that "AMERICA" helps EVERYONE OUT! Name me "1" country that defends itself from an enemy in attack and once done, turns around and PAYS AMERICAN DOLLARS to rebuild their country. Name just one. There isn't one. I'll stop here because I don't want to get into a political discussion, but I believe History speaks for itself.
IKF, YOU need to read the full post again.
My responce was about america and other countrys not helping Burma enstate democracy.
I couldnt give a rats ass if you guys help them promote Bare hand fighting world wide.
It seems to me that a few people are a bit thin skinned and very touchy. Nobody is insulting anyones character. Give me a break. I don't have any preconcieved notions about Americans pushing their views on people whether it be in this instance or others...it has been my experience traveling around the world that MANY people think American's DO push their opinions and views on people. I am an American and I am humble enough to admit that MANY people in MANY countries view American's this way. I am not the only one who feels this way. You see, some people don't think of it as America helping....some people think America should keep their nose out of other's business. Sorry if that offends anyone but this is what I have found. I hardly think this makes me predjudice however and what I have observed and found to be true can hardly be construed as:
a preconceived judgment or opinion (2) : an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge b : an instance of such judgment or opinion c : an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics
My thoughts are not without just grounds and a good deal of knowledge that accompanies them. Hardly irrational....Oh, by the way....I've been to Burma numerous times (4), have seen bare handed fights and do know a little about the culture as well. Not nearly as much as Thailand's but a little.
Mr. Fossum - I was attacking you? I don't think so. Simply stating my thoughts. Nothing personal...HONEST. I also don't give a rat's ass if you promote Burmese boxing because I can always go watch the sport myself if I choose to.
My feelings are that when you state numerous times that there should be a newflash stating that Doug Evans won the fight, you are wrong. He didn't get the win. It's a tough break and a shitty call. That doesn't mean he won though. I am sure that I would be pissed and I am sure that he is pissed. Unfortunately as they say, shit happens. Is it terrible that he got screwed? Well of course.
If the Burmese asked how they could get their sport into America I can understand your point and I stand corrected.....I personally would prefer that Muay Thai is practiced worldwide using full Muay Thai rules and Burmese Boxing as well.
As far as America needing Myanmar, well, you probably do if you want to practice traditional Burmese Boxing! Do we not "need" Thai's to take Muay Thai to a higher level? Well...."need" may not be the best word to use but why is it that the Thai's (IN GENERAL) tend to be the best in full Muay Thai? Ever think that perhaps there is a reason why they are? So in a sense we DO need them and it would be extremely helpful to have the Burmese's help and experience. Now I do agree that promotion of the sport is an entirely different subject than the training or fights. Mr. Fossum why don't you invite the Burmese to fight in America or Thailand??? If the money was right they might accept? Or am I dreaming?
Who said that anyone is "stealing" anything from anyone? And why are you so pissed off for that matter? The world has become a small place and nearly every country is a cultural melting pot so stealing is not something that is necessary in these times.
The Burmese may well have hurt their own cause but the cause was not the issue. The issue was your protest. Were you not virtually certain of the outcome of your protest? Wasn't that evident enough if Evans was knee'd in the balls after a ref broke the fighters? Again, think about what was at stake for their country and how it looks politically?!
I still think that you stating Doug Evans defeated Wan Chai is horseshit. I don't have anything to get over as WHO got the L? When Whitaker lost to Chavez who really won and who got the L? While people may say Whitaker won, he ended up with the loss. I wasn't at that fight either....Frankly, your opinion is biased and I have read from at least one person as well as heard from a few others that Evans wasn't kneed in the balls, he was kneed high.....So, if you know he won, then I am sure the both of you will always know who won and should be proud of this. The fact of the matter is Wan Chai was declared the winner so in fact, HE DID WIN. No matter how controversial the fight may or may not be, HE GOT THE W which is my point.
So my questions is, when Evans fights again, will there be a L added to his record? Or will this be another Benny Urquidez "exhibition"
Stating that you come off as whining and self-serving is my opinion and when I first read the info on your web site this was my initial feeling. I will tell you though that if I was the one fighting you would be a good person to have helping me.
It is terrible when officials are bad and don't do their job. Again....unfortunately shit happens. What can you do about it if you are Burma of all places? Absolutely nothing! How often are decisions overturned in boxing? Not very often. So do you honestly thnk you will get the benefit of the doubt in Myanmar?!
Brian - American vs. the world? I think if you knew me a bit better you would find that I am about as open minded towards other cultures and their manner of thinking as anyone can get. Every culture has their strong and weak points. It's not a matter of being against the world. I am an American who has lived in and experienced many cultures, more than most people and believe me when I say that I am happy to be an American. You can also believe me when I tell people that I am American and they simply respond with "oh, American" not in the most flattering way.
Sorry if I am rambling or scattered but it's 3 AM and I'm tired.
Well you guys got in a pretty rough one.
MT news , you dare to speak out about things that others don´t dare to think about.
Many think the same, they just can't get away with it as they aren't American. :P
For the record-most of my experiances with Americans is good. I have many American friends and some relitives in America. Actualy more than Canada.
But Americans sometimes have a better than thou attitude and there way is the only way...sometimes at least.
I think America has done alot of good around the world. I think they've done some not so good things too. But what country wouldn't with the power they have.
I have traveled a fair bit also to the point of having two continents left and having lived on 4. I must say that Americans don't have the best name and I am glad I don't hold an American passport when travelling. That said I think Americans are basically good-like almost all countries peoples-its just...well there is more than one way to do things and the world doesn't revolve around America...well maybe it almost does...well it doesn't revolve around Americans individually. Hows that.
basically-I am stated what I have found other countries to view Americans as
-I said Americans are basically good(like most countries peoples)
-America has done alot of good around the world
-America has done some things that aren't so 'good' but what countries
wouldn't in the same situations? All governments have agendas and are
corrupt to some degree, right?
So don't trash me here please. :)
peace
Good points everyone, and well taken here.
Have a great week.
