Firstly sincere condolences about the loss of a young girl through preventable causes.

However - this is a double barrel thread -

Facebook and Bullying.

Lives are lost through bullying at work, school, college, gyms, facebook, twitter, church, anywhere!

Facebook is neither good nor bad in my opinion. It is an advertising tool for businesses, an addictive game/network as is the xbox the playstation, twitter, the computer in general. Good and bad things happen in all forms of social networking. Duncan Bannatyne this week received family threats over twitter for instance. But he also receives these threats through the post.

Parents in my opinion are in a hard situation when it comes to protecting their children online. I suspect the girl was also bullied at school and most probably and deeply sadly through her school life as well.

ALL BULLIES WILL GET THERE COMUPPENCE. I hope the twats rot. Sad and tragic loss of a beautiful life.

my god that is awful! facebook is a double edge sword, like all internet sites really. great for advertising and keeping in touch but yes, all too easy for people to use it as a bullying tool too

I deleted about 90% of my facebook contacts a few months ago because i found i as becoming facebook dependent on the lives of people i hadnt even met and felt my life was tragically boning compared with theirs if good things were happening to them and not me i became resentful, why the hell is that normal- thing is facebook is a never ending rabbit hole with infinite links to infinite links. I never use it and only reason i have anyone on there is for emergencies as i never seem to be in the one place too long.

Anyway facebook usage is dropping quicker than a Bolton lass's pants on a friday night

For me, it has its purpose. I use it mainly to keep in touch with family and old friends from high school.
