Glory Kickboxing : The Flying Dutchman Remy Bonjasky returns!
Glory has just announced their next event, and it'll be taking place on October 6 in Brussels, Belgium.
The event, titled "GLORY 2 Brussels" will be headlined by the return of Remy Bonjasky's return after almost three years away from the ring, as he takes on Anderson "Braddock" Silva.
Remy Bonjasky, a legend of the sport, hasn't fought since December of 2009 due to an eye injury but is now ready and itching to get back into the ring. Anderson" Braddock" Silva was recently signed by GLORY and is coming off a fight where he gave Badr Hari all he could handle in a losing effort.
This is a great comeback fight for Remy as Braddock is a good, worthy opponent, but not something crazy like facing Semmy Schilt after three years of not fighting.
Also on the card will be Gokhan Saki, Nieky Holzken, Filip Verlinden and Andy Ristie in soon to be announced match-ups.

Kickboxing great Remy Bonjasky has announced his return to the ring, but it won't be in K-1. The three time K-1 World Grand Prix champion has signed a multi-fight deal with K-1 rival Glory World Series.
From the official statement:
I am really excited about GLORY, really enthusiastic about the people behind it and what they are trying to do for the sport. There are new, fresh minds involved and they are looking to take the sport to a new level, to make it bigger than it already is.
I achieved great things in K-1 and now I think the new challenge is GLORY, I think they can make the sport bigger than K-1 did.
Bonjasky retired after the 2009 K-1 Grand Prix due to a recurring eye injury that was threatening to leave him blind.
Since that time, there have been rumors of a possible Bonjasky return, but without a big Heavyweight scene due to the demise of K-1, it looked like the retirement would stick.
Now, with both K-1 and Glory back in action, Bonjasky has returned.
It's interesting that he has chosen to sign with Glory instead of his old home at K-1. Glory has managed to put together a very strong Heavyweight roster that surpasses that of the new K-1 as Bonjasky joins Semmy Schilt, Peter Aerts, Errol Zimmerman, Gokhan Saki, Jerome Le Banner, Sergei Kharitonov, and more.

Serious vinny?? and luv Remy Thai Fighter that Kicks and Knees and doesnt Knee-Kick lol
I suppose he doesnt do Kickboxing either Sandy - lol!
Only kick missing off this list, is the Badr Hari 'STOMP-KICK'.
Back on Topic....
Rumour was that Bonjasky was offered a six figure contract!
It says on there a knee kick?? Is that a misprint? Only a spacca or a Japanese person would say that
I love Bonjasky.
He's the ultimate male, haha...gave up a lucrative career in investment banking to concentrate on his modelling career...gave up being a male model to voncentrate on becoming a Fighting superstar.
The guy is an icon.
I pray Vinny is wrong on this one. I'd love to see him fight again but only if he honestly has more to give...would hate to see him come back and look old.
I was excited by Schumachers return to F1...now I wish he hadn't done it. I'm a majr F1 fan but it's definitely harder to remember Schumachers first career when every week now he is out-qualified by his team mate.
Excuse all the typos...it's this bloody iPad
I'm not illiterate...honest
They should stay retired mate aerts was smoked by spong and remy is super nice it isn't a super nice sport is it?

Nope he doesnt, he does Muay Thai and entered a K-1 Kickboxing Event
Sandy he will call it kickboxing they do in holland mate Remy hasn't if ever fought muay thai for years and years it's not popular really (shame too)
Sandy,
I dont have a problem with people using different names or terminology for what they do. I do have a problem when people critic others for using different terminology - while thinking that they are correct, when in fact they are wrong.
It is like critisining an american who says that he walks on a sidewalk, and that he is wrong and should say that he is walking on a pavement.
And in reply to your last sentance, please consider this...
A Muaythai fighter may compete in a UFC bout.
If he does this, he is still a Muaythai fighter.
He may also be refered to as a 'Mixed-Martial-Artist' that is competing in the sport of M.M.A.
#Note 'UFC' is the brand name of a Promotion company involved in the sport of M.M.A.

"Sandy he will call it kickboxing they do in holland mate..."
Interesting note,
One of the top Dutch trainer I brough over to the U.K. For one of my shows, about 15+ years ago, while out for a meal and chatting away about K-1, Muaythai, Dutch fighters etc... Corrected me for saying how I admired Dutch style Thai-Boxing. He insisted that I say Dutch style Kickboxing, not Dutch style Thai-Boxing. I asked him why, and he said because that is what it is. The Thai's do Muaythai and in Holland they do Kickboxing.
Corrected I was, and a few years later when I had another Dutch trainer over - he also said the same. His reason was also that it did not make sense to use two countries nationality when describing something. Dutch style Thai??? Thats like English style French???
Eitherway, I thought I would mention it.
What many of us have been taught over the years, is not neccesarily always 100% correct - and it is only when one has travelled ( ie widened their experience and knowledge ) do they see things differently.
To me, Remy is a Muaythai stylist definately. Aaerts, Hooste, Kamen etc... Dutch style Kickboxers.
100% Agree with Vinny and I said same thing about Peter Aerts.... how many more fighters are going to come out of retirement when they shouldnt !!!
different rules but Dekkers vs Mes ! why do it guys.. you have enough money ! stay remembered for the right reasons !
Remy has good left kick and style similar to Hippolyte who was my favourite Dutch fighter muay thai style and because he mainly fought that way and told me Thais were the masters of kicking can't disagree with him but he should stay retired waving money about seems to do the trick but you can't buy eye sight
I agree with Luckybags, it is a bit of a shame when fighters that have taken their name to such great heights tarnish the memory with lesser performances by extending their career too long.
Cannot defeat father-time!
:(
Aaerts...Bonjasky...Inspirations and legends to many!
What is style???
Thai style is generally seen as...
... when fighters lead with a Kick, punch but not in long combinations and close the distance when in boxing range to clinch range, in order to nullify the boxing and execute elbows and knees.
Dutch style is generally when fighters lead with a boxing combination and then finish with a Kick ( including finishing with a knee-xxxx ).
Nice clash of styles on the video above of Aaerts vs Bonjasky.
