I am planning to extend my gym in the new year and looking at options for the gym floor covering.
we currently have 1000sq foot of jigsaw matting training area this cost an absolute fortune and the mats themselves are a pain to keep clean/maintain. A lot of the bigger gyms seem to have a plastic type canvas floor fitted, just wondered where you get these from and what the advantages are over jigsaw mats?
I would hope the first advantage being much cheaper.
any help/advice greatly appreciated.

any tarpauline place should make it to size for you, then buy the foam that goes underneath,a lot cheaper than other stuff and easy to clean,

Raf, if you dont mind me asking, how much was the covering for your space there? We are thinking about doing it over our mats.

It cost me £750 that was including them fitting it and putting a weld in because of the pillars, there is roughly another 12/14ft to the right. The pillars I padded myself with what was left over. Hope that helps.

I've used Stuart Canvas Products twice now. Our gym opened in 1986 and we had a traditional white canvas that didn't last too long.

We replaced it with a Stuart Canvas red vinyl and that never wore out but we wanted a colour change so we got them to replace it with a blue one. Their finish is way superior to anything ive ever seen, it has brass eyelets to stretch the canvas with elastic and an overlap flap to cover these. The joining welds are also stitched as well as glued.

25 years, replaced once for cosmetic reasons and still perfect! So far its worked out at about £120 a year...Bargain!

How does the canvas manage with boxing boots or trainers or is it strictly for bare feet ?
