so this is whats going down in WBC mexico

This is what you can win in a tournament in Mexico held by a the WKC... World Kickboxing Counsel (no, not the WBC... well, actually I don't know because the promoter is also the WBC Muay Thai President in Mexico). I remember a few years back when Sualiaman and Gen. Kovid explicitly said that the union of WBC and Muay Thai was not to be confused with Kickboxing and this was ordered by the King of Thailand. In this tournament, they will be giving out 500 WBC Muay Thai belts (actual size) and 500 WBC Muay Thai metals in a competition that includes Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Full Contact, Wai Kru, Pad Holding... or doing pads, not clear, WUSHU, Karate, Forms, and weapons... We should have never worked so hard and fought to win a belt when we could have won one doing or holding pads. So sad to see the credibility of this cherished green belt get devalued to a simple trophy. I will be excited to see the WBC Muay Thai Champion belt around the guy who has never fought but can do pads really really good and the Karate flip kicker and his Karate Gi.

Don't other sanctioning bodies do similar things?
I think it's well shite that they're giving out belts for non fighters, when we all know how much people work to win those same belts the honest way.

Hawkman, your comment is tasteless.

Those belts look like their inflatable.

Why don't they just give out medals for this sort of thing. Guess it's just the WBC cashing in on the fact that the green belts look the part

@Hawkman, No problemo, I know you were joking.

@Jamin, those belt are made from the same stuff they make those SUMO suits out of I guess.

I believe the WKC is completely separate to the WBC Muay Thai. I had a chat with the Mexican fella last year, Oscar Fischer, who heads up the WKC, and is also a rep for WBC Muay Thai Mexico. His WKC belts are pretty similar to the WBC ones.

Sounds quite weird giving out WBC belts & medals for holding pads, etc. Obviously just a money spinner, but as far as i know the WBC only do Muay Thai and Boxing, so i'd guess the other combat sports are through the WKC.
