DOMS or Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, peaking between 48-72 hours after exercise... Is it desirable? How does it effect your training? How can you prevent it?

cant u apply different timeframes of doms to different muscle groups?

eg triceps, gastrocnemius and quads all seem to have it worse, deeper and longer

Interesting question. The research doesn't isolate different muscle groups. Thinking about it, certain muscles groups may appear to suffer from DOMs to a greater extent because of the joint actions they produce - they're more susceptable to greater fluctations in volume and intensity. Just my thoughts... ;)
