I think I would want to put my money on Toshio Matsumoto to spank Duane in this fight just like Masato spanked Duane before. But my 2 cent is Masato will spank anyone in his weight class for now.

Satankid - awesome pics!!
specialsystem - Kozo is going down in rankings, it looks like he will never be in the shape like in times when he ruled the thai rankings.
This Matsumoto guy looks impressive - who else has he fought besides the thais?

We are happy to fight Matsumoto...we have video on him and while he is a tough fighter, he is not the "polished" fighter that BANG! is. Duane has over 50 fights to Matsumoto's 17.

I just don't see Matsumoto hanging with Duane.

We were originally offered Genki Sudo... too bad! That is the fight that Duane really wants to fight under k-1 rules.

Good Luck to Duane!!!!!! Hey boogie...u think that after beating matsumoto there could be a chance of seeing ludwing in shin nihon kickboxing, or all japan kickboxing, IKUSA or some other japanese organization? (I think he would do GREAT!)

Duane won't win against a guy that knocked out a few Thai guys. So I really wouldn't be surprised if Duane gets spanked just like Masato spanked him before. But in common sense, Masato can spank Matsumoto or anyone else in his weight division for now.

Boogie - NEW JApan are masters in decieving the statistics - I am 100% sure he does not have 17 matches all together. Most of the time they start counting wins as they fight for new association.

Why do you think that and how are you so sure? The records of Japanese fighters are quite well documented and easy to follow. I've never seen a fighter change organisation and start his record afresh.

Also, Matsumoto is part of the Shin Nihon (SNKA) organisation, not New Japan (NJKF). Even though 'Shin Nihon' means 'New Japan' in English they are 2 different associations.

Well Satankid while in Thailand I met some Japanese and their fighters spotted very weak records compared to their opponents - he said most of the time Japanese count their pro fights , but many amateur fighters fight under pro rules. That way their fight record is relatively small compared to their previous experience/Amateur/.
You guys all say this guy is a gun - do you think hes got there only with 17 fights?
Even my fighter that spot 10-12 wins have much more experience in amateur bouts but under pro rules ie. Without padding.

Dynamo- OK, I see what you are saying. In Japan there is a clear definition between pro and amatuer. When you see a Japanese fighter's record it is only the pro fights that are counted. There is nothing sneaky about this, it's just done the same as boxing. All the amatuer fights I have seen in Japan have had at least shin pads, usually head-gear and have not gone longer than 3x2. I have never seen or been aware of amatuer fights without at least shin pads.

Some fighters have had a number of amatuer fights. Others gain amatuer experience in full-contact karate tournaments such as Shin-Karate, Seido-Karate and Kyokushin-Karate. Some fighters have had no amatuer experience at all.

So it's possible that Matsumoto has had a bunch of amatuer fights but once a fighter turns pro, any amatuer experience is seen as irrelevant to their pro record.

Yeah I have this feeling Ludwig is gonna KO'ed this guy. He keeps getting better and better in everyfight, and I think 2004 will be his year to shine.
