This was as gutsy a fight as you will ever see... Aaron Boyes came to fight and came to rattle and shake Ozkan and he did all that and more.
He cut Gurkan over the left eye in the first round with a knee (as it was K-1 rules) and it was a bad cut but they stemmed the blood flow so it was okay to go on.
Gurkan looked tentative early, which is natural following his KO loss to Zambidis last time out... but this was Gurkan's return to his comfort zone under K-1 rules and at 78kg.
There were times when Aaron landed flush flush blows on Ozkan... in particular in round four in the corner he landed five HUGE shots to Ozkan's face and the crowd went wild... then Ozkan rallied back and showed flashes of the Ozkan of old with maniacal spurts where he went absolutely postal on Aaron but Aaron took his best shots.
Both men grinned, trash talked, tried to sucker each other in... it was a real stoush!
Great to see Gurkan back in the winners circle with a unan decision and hats off to Aaron Boyes for a magnificent effort. He gave as good as he got.
