i have had no trouble with my toungue piercing in hard sparring - havent fought tho. a mouthguard offers enough protection for the top teeth and i find the bottom ball of the barbell doesnt even touch the bottom teeth because it sits right at the bottom of the mouth

once you have been pierced for a while you can take it out and put it back in easily enough

i used to have my bottom lip pierced twice and used to take them out for sparring. once while holding pads i hit myself in the mouth and gave myself a fat lip - had the lip rings in then. due to the swelling i couldnt remove one of the rings so i tried to pull it apart with a pair of pliers and vice grips ....... dropped the vice grips while i was trying to pull the ring which ended up pulling the ring out. along with a bit of pain and blood.
