I'd definitely say that Alexio was a bigger puncher than Rick. Rick was always more of a tricky fighter. He would do combinations on the way in...and then bounch out...and earlier in his career he would use a WHOLE lot of kicks in his attacks. Later on, he did more boxing, but he was not as power-oriented as Alexio. Instead, Rick was more of a busy boxer. Alexio always had a pretty thick frame...even for a light heavyweight, but especially as a heavy weight. He was somewhat short and had wide hips...which is really good for inside punching. NOT good for K-1, however, where knees are involved. I'd say Alexio's biggest "tool" in his fighting was that he would wear down the opponent with body shots. His Stamina won him a lot of fights. He used body punching more than most Kickboxers that I've seen. Again, this is something that he coulnd't get away with in K-1 rules.
Hoost vs Rick II...it's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember Rick winning by being the busier fighter and throwing many punching combinations throughout most of the fight. It was halfway through or later when Hoost's round kicks started to take their toll on Rick's arms, changing the fight. I also wonder if Rick's rumored case of diabetes had anything to do with that fight.
It's been even longer since I've seen Hoost vs Rick I...but I remember that Hoost wouldn't have won that fight. Rick was doing many many many flashy kicks to win over the judges and the crowd...and that frustrated Hoost...but still Hoost couldn't do anything about it. Hoost wasn't crafty enough to counter any of it to keep it from happening. In terms of damage, it was probably close...but Rick played to the crowd and judges.
