There’s a new editor at the helm of fighter’s magazine, in the shape of Malcolm Martin. I personally know Malcolm, and know him to be man of great integrity. I am certain that this development will have left him exasperated, particularly as it undermines his aim of creating a credible, relevant and factual martial arts magazine. Something of a definitive guide for the UK martial arts community as a whole.
The Nick Hewitson debacle will have done a great deal to undermine this objective and has clearly tarnished the debut of this promising fighter’s publication. This said Malcom has acted quite correctly in removing Hewitsons articles until such a time as he can provide evidence to support his claims. My personal opinion is that no such evidence will materialise to support his far-fetched assertions and that he will simply slink out of the picture.
What is important in all of this, is that in raising this issue the Ax community has exposed a blatant deceiver and has prevented others from being duped by his well written but clearly fabricated editorial column. Though it must be noted that in the order of things Nick Hewitson represents an irrelevant speck of untruth in an otherwise well put together magazine. I just hope that people will get behind Malcolm, and write this incident off as an unfortunate but now historical event.
