Team USA consists of 12 athletes, 6 officials, 3 media and about 6 supporters (family and friends of Team USA).


Fight result on Day 1 of Tournament:

Rima Sidhu vs Saichon Taichio (Thailand): Saichon took control of round one through her roundhouse kicks. Toward round two, Rima show great control in the clinch dominating Saichon. Round 3 was all Rima controlling the fight through clinches, kicks and punches. Rima is victorious by decision and move to round 2 elimination bout.



Natalie Fuz vs Pernilla Jonsson (Sweden): Pernilla came out very strong through her kick with cobra kai jab. In Round 2, Natalie came out circling Pernilla and was able to land punches to the head and strong leg kicks. Round 3 was Natalie’s round where she dominated landing solid kicks and punches. However it was not enough to win the fight. Pernilla of Sweden won the fight through points.



Matt Williams vs Shauk Halov (Russia): It was a classic David vs Golliath when comes to size. This was a tough fight since it was Matt’s first real amateur fight ever. Shauk is a professional fighter from Russia with over 60 fights. Needless to say, Shauk came in dominating all rounds by clinching, kneeing, and elbowing. For a first timer, Matt showed courage and the fighting spirit of NEVER GIVE UP, holding onto the fight to the very end. However, it was not enough, Shauk wins by points.



Eric Utsch vs Mudryk Andrit (Ukraine): This was a very close fight between Eric and Mudryk. Team Ukraine has won the World Cup Championship the past two years in the row. Regardless of this, Eric push forward challenging the Ukrainian medalist. Both fighters fought very well exchanging hands and kicks. The bout came to a decision which went to Mudryk of Ukraine.



Norman Valencerina vs Constantinosc (Cyprus): Norman came out very strong dominating his opponenent. Norman let go of his fists of fury to win the fight in round 3 by TKO. Norman advances to the next elimination bout. During the fight, Norman had kicked his opponent’s elbow which the doctor thinks he had fractured his front foot bone.
