7. Most memorable fight
My first title fight for the ISKA East Coast Title against Damon O'grady. I suffered a fractured rib at training in the days preceding the fight but there was no way, being my first title shot, I was going to pass it up. After each of us knocking the other down I then dominated the fight and gained the victory. The pain from the rib was excruciating but the Belt helped ease my suffering!
8. Toughest opponent
Difficult to say as most opponents are very tough. Probably Dave Hoy as I felt I hit him with everything I had but he stood his ground and gave plenty back.
9. Dream fight you would want to be in
World Kickboxing Title shot. I'd also love to fight overseas and on some high profile local shows.
10.Favourite fighter you respect
'John' Wayne Parr. Though I haven't met him personally, his conduct in and out of the ring is exemplary. He respects and thanks those who support him and is happy to jump on the Forum and exchange views.
I also have a huge respect for Kostya Tszyu. A true World Champion who doesn't trash talk but rather lets his ring craft and skills do the talking.
Both these men give freely of their time and dedication to build their respective sports.
11.Best and worst aspects of the fight game
Best: Meeting good people in the sport; some of whom I may fight but then later have a beer as friends afterwards. Being part of a great gym at 108 Supalek with great support. Also the satisfaction of training to the peak of your abilities and endurance, often at great personal sacrifice.
Worst: Dishonesty and deception from those in the game totally for themselves. Being unable to get the right fights and opportunities. Also the frustration at being unable to give up my current job in order to fight fulltime (due to financial commitments)
12.Favourite techniques
Hard kicks, uppercuts and body rips.
13.Superstitions or unusual pre-fight practices
I try not to fool around in the sack for at least a week before the fight. Pretty frustrating but I believe the results are worth it. (Ed: Not sure if Danni would concur with that!)
14.In 10yrs, how would you like to be remembered
To be thought of in a similar way to my favourite fighters. Also for people to know I always take fights, give 110% and try to give back to younger fighters the experience I have learnt. I would love to win a World Title in acknowledgement of my dedication to training.
15.Other comments
This sport has been the best thing to happen in my life. I live by it and will continue to. It has helped me in many ways and once I retire from fighting I will give what I have gained to the future generation and hope they feel the same gratification as I have. My appreciation to all the Supalek guys especially my trainer Ray Hay.
