Ice blocks were 5 cents and you could walk anywhere without fear of being bashed and robbed (could be cos I never had anything to steal?!)
No seatbelts, stuffing every kid in the neighbourhood in the car 'cos you're going to the beach. (Until the door opened one day and one fell out!)
Road trips to grandparents in Hawke's Bay (sunniest place in New Zealand - I don't care how many hours of sunlight Nelson claims!)for Christmas holidays - six weeks in the sun, no sunscreen. Gran greeting us by saying "oooh, you're so pale, don't you get any sun in Auckland - we'll soon fix that".
Swimming in the river. It's too shallow now from all the mega dairy farms using it to irrigate.
The sun shone more then, tar melted on the streets and life was simpler - or is it just that I'm OLD!
