Well done down on a brilliant show, great looking venue, very professional set up and well organised. Gary you must be almost the same age as me now with all the stress though mate. It was great to see some old friends and meet some people I had previously only contacted by e-mail. Nice to meet you Stephen, I thought your fighter Mark, had a nice style and fought really well. Those individuals who were kept waiting at the start need to be aware it wasn’t the promotion teams fault at all but the venue’s policy. The venue’s staff wouldn’t even let fighters and officials in even when Gary protested.

I was impressed by the technical standard of the fighters and thought even the novices had a good style and were trying to score well. The tournament was excellent with some exciting fights. I thought Craig fought really, really well and had the hardest route to the final with some exciting all action battles. Craig comes over as a really sound lad, tough, skilful, confident but not arrogant at all. Well done on a great win. The war with Michael Dicks was a close toe-to-toe battle that was full of excitement and was a great platform for the skill courage and determination of both fighters. The Belarusian (Ukrainian) was also very impressive and looked physically smaller than many of the others in the tournament but was skilful, accurate and very explosive. Although as a referee it is not as easy to judge as it is sitting as a judge at ringside, I thought the fight was even going into the last in the Lloyd Cochrane fight and that Lloyd could win. However, Lloyd lost it in the last by letting the Thai score without reply. Earlier in the fight he had scored well with body kicks but was although had a high work rate didn’t score with the punches and got scored on by kicks and knees. Punching in the clinch doesn’t score but knees to the back do.

Thanks for the nice comments Mark (Yoda) it is always a pleasure to be in the company of coaches, gyms and fighters with such great attitudes as yours; both before and after a fight. I was really pleased with Dean’s performance against John (Dick). He is still developing and getting better with each fight. In this fight he was able to stay cool, keep his position while really scoring well throughout the fight. John is a really great lad with a heart the size of Scotland. Even at 57kg, Dean has power (having knocked out the majority of his opponents) but John took everything and just kept coming. John, thanks for the fight pal you are a very good fighter and very tough. I am sure you will have learned from the fight and be a better fighter for it. I know Dean had a lot of respect for you before the fight pal and that respect has only grown after your performance. Also thanks to the two Richards (Wainey and Weston)for all your help in getting Dean ready.

I loved Rung’s entrance kilt and all; he is a true warrior and a great personality. The fight started with both fighters looking composed and classy. Then Rung hit Richard with a body kick that nearly broke him in half and then hit with another one. Richard had to use all his experience and courage not to go down and to keep his head. Richard not only showed great heart to ‘weather the storm’ but real class to be able to counter with well timed shots as Rung advanced in attack to try to follow up his initial success. The elbow that finished the fight was excellent and opened up a really bad cut in a really bad place. Well done Rich, an excellent win against a really worthy opponent. Hard luck Rung, Scotland can be proud of their adopted Thai warrior.

Overall an excellent show, well done to everyone involved.
