First of all, it is very important for all Muaythai enthusiasts to understand that our sport is called “Muaythai”, not Muay or any other names. The Asian Indoor Games is not so much of our concern as the sport is called Muay. The only sport we know is Muaythai and we are proud to be a part of it. We all, as foreigners, have fought very hard to get the name and the sport accepted and recognized in the world sporting community (see details in GAISF website). It is an achievement in which you could not even comprehend to conquer.
Your message posted 25 June 2007 quoted, “The World Martial Arts Games (including Muay Thai) April 2008 in Bangkok- A huge event with martial artists coming from around the world to participate. Organised by the IOC (The International Olympic Committee)
Confirmation is to come...”
I must say that it is a misleading statement and you should be careful of the messages you posted. The fact is the IOC would never organize martial art games for unrecognized martial art federations, of which you are a member. The IOC will not recognize your federation. GAISF, the association recognized by the IOC, in contraire will organize the World Martial Art Games in 2010 which every Australian Muaythai enthusiast has a chance to qualify to participate.
The documents you posted do no justice to the matters being discussed here and they do not mention anything about the WMF. The letter you posted was an invitation to the President of the Thai Federation to attend the Coordination Committee Meeting for the 2nd Asian Indoor Games in Macau. The list of technical delegates was created on a blank sheet of paper with no letterhead, the representatives from Macau do not have names, and there is no prior approval from organizing committee.
At the end of the day, I am mainly concerned by the misinformation about IOC involvement in your post, and I must state one more time that IFMA is the only recognized World Federation under GAISF, who are a partner of the IOC.
