Hey Rebel
Yeah i reckon you should have a crack at Monty. If it happens it will be a big pay day mate, his promoter (Mick W.) makes sure of that- at least for Monty. Don't mean to go off topic but the boxing fraternity are a funny bunch sometimes. Knowing very well that there are more than capable kick boxers who can deal to them in boxing, they still pick strange fighters from far and wide to make a fight card. Its rather puzzling or is it a case of cotton wool gift wrapping.
With the Aussies i am sure there are contractual issues with there local shows which could make life very hard to get them over here. The good thing about making it an all kiwi line up is that the show will sell and once everyone sees the real value in it, all the aussies will race to be in the reckoning.
S-1 is all about pride.
Perhaps Scotty can work out a qualifying system for these guys for next year, with a build up period consisting mandatory 3 fights over X months and rank them for qualifying. I.e 10 fighters ranked accordingly at the end of the qualifying, on other promotions in NZ and the last 2 make the reserve fight. That way there wont be ring rusty, debated fighters who should or shouldn't be there. However its going to be very hard to put togeather.
With club mates fighting each other, at this level it shouldn't be an issue. Its the pro game and anyone should fight anyone even if it means brothers going head to head.
Going back to Rebel and Monty, if it does happen- Make sure the KO doesn't come too early. Dodge will want some air time and return for their money. You never know, an early finish clause could see Rebel get no $, and bring back the mullet hair do for the star appeal.
