Mike:
I don’t think that the fight between Pettas Vs Filho will take place, at least not in the 2001 Grand Prix. As I see it, it would be almost impossible for Pettas to defeat Ignashov, I simply can not see how the great Dane should take out the strong Russian?? But if Pettas somehow should qualify himself to the 2nd round, Filho also has to defeat Peter Aerts - and that is not going to be easy. (There are no easy fights in a Grand Prix - I know... But some a harder than others and this one are going to be a tuff fight.)
As you say yourself Mike, Filho has the most bizarre punches in the game, and Peter is and old fox and at the same time he is also fighting for his career, so he will NOT jump into to same trap, as Sam Greco or Andy Hug did when they was fighting against Filho. If Francisco Filho are going to defeat Aerts, it will be on points, but it is going to be one tuff and long fight for Filho to defeat the former champ in his own backyard.
Who will win if the fight between Filho Vs Pettas somehow will take place?? I will say Filho, big time. Filho would have won the fight mentally against Pettas, before both of the fighters even has entered the ring. If you ask Nicholas Pettas, I am sure that he rather fights Jerome, Hunt, Leko or Hoost than Filho.
