Topic:Report Post to Moderators
We are all guilty of reading stuff and jumping to the wrong conclusion. Alot of the time it depends on what mood we are in when we read the post. We are also sometimes guilty of talking and writing stuff based on hear say and what we believe to be correct. So something positive may come out of this as Life is one big experience and to my knowledge both Mick and Cris are both supporters of taking Kickboxing forward.
After reading Micks post again I can see why Cris reacted in the way he did, and it was probably this bit of the post which sparked the reaction...
and i think he is perhaps now too experienced and mature to be fighting opponents in the 14/15yrs age bracket so it will be nice to see him start to fight opponents his own age in future.
As Moley pointed out Lewis is 17 so the fight with Leif was well matched. Leif as far as I am aware has fought Scott Allen, Kyle Williams, Andrew Harris, Lee Bennett plus many more over the years. BUT All fighters being of the same /similar age. I can only ever remember him fighting one fighter 3 years his junior but that was Chad. Those earlier bouts were a few years ago and also classed as demonstration bouts because of the age difference.
I am not aware of anyone else he has fought of similar age to Chad with the exception being Hayden Walker who is a year older than Chad.
On a more positive note, what a great night for Kickboxing and the future of the sport is definately in good shape. With some fantastic Juniors / Cadets on display! We just about had enough fighters Sat night to do a 8 x Man (Junior) -55kg tournament. Probably need ages a little closer and weights as some were at 50kg limit and others at the top range.
Not trying to start a debate but one of the issues I am faced with. Finding opponents of similar age to Chad. Maybe we should start a new thread about how much age can a fighter give away. Chad, I agree is probably an exception but he almost always has to give away 2years in age if not 3. Not ideal and not by choice but on Saturday night we fought a 17 year old from France. Allbeit Chad had Height and reach advantage plus a couple of kilos. The body changes massively over those teenage years from boy to man. These sort of fights need to be scrutinised, carefully selected, agreed by the promoter and sanctioning body to avoid and potential mis matches.
Mick - Not met you yet, next time at a show we must make an effort to say hello. I did not know you and Dale were there until Mark mentioned it on the Sunday when we were having breakfast.Mind you running back and forth most of the night meant i did not clock many people. Even better idea, Maybe we can get you on one of shows next year?
Dale - Any chance we can put Mick on our May show next year. I know its a long way off but like to get planning early 16th May Saturday Night Kelham Hall.
We should probably take that discussion of line, but I am would love to put Mick on if he has no other commitments. Think I just plugged my next show?
