Thank you to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning to attended the seminar and thank you for the positive comments I have received. Most of all, thank you to Daz for organising everything and for his and Maxine's usual hospitality.
I think the standard of Muay Thai in the UK is improving all the time and the more coaches, fighters and officials that understand the sport, the better it will get.
It was great to see so many attempting what is a challenging assessment, whether for their own interest or because they are intend becoming a judge. I will look at the assessments by next weekend and get back to Daz with percentages and general feedback. I am not sure how many will achieve the 80%, but if you do or don't it is always work in progress for a judge and consistently improving knowledge is important, so nobody fails but some might not have passed quite yet.
In actual fact, a number of very accomplished judges failed their initial assessments but their persistence, perseverance and desire to understand paid off and they are now excellent judges. One particular individual whose resolve I particularly admire, actually failed at least four attempts at the assessment until things suddenly clicked and then they couldn't stop getting 100%. The moral of the story is, if those doing the assessment don't get 80% this time, see it as a valuable learning experience...getting things wrong is an essential part of eventually getting it right.
