The old kickboxing low kick style (which they used to call kickboxing, the above the waist used to be full contact, from the term full contact karate) only allowed low kicks to the outside of the leg, no knees etc.

K1 has turned it all on its head with limtited Thai techniques. I would say forget the old lowkick rules and just move forward with a set of rules based on K1.

When I have watched all of the different rules in action, my favourite is full thai. I hate watching c class though as just to much time in clinch. K1 is my next favourite but with only 2 weight divisions it makes it a bit of a joke.
