Vinnie, Richie Cadden or I can all help for sure...

The reaction is due to your ANS firing up in your limbic system, your adrenal glands pumping out hormones and firing out you sympathetic system ready for the GAS (General Adaptative Response) more commonly known as the Freeze Flight Fight (Fear and Feint) repsonse.

These responses escalate in response to perceived danger, especially with proximity of danger. They always fire in the same order as stress is increased and they are overloaded. First you will freeze, to assess, and if stress increases again you will flight usually in exactly the direction away from the perceived threat, and if stress increases again you will fight.

This all takes place above conscious awareness.

If you fight and the stress increases further it is now postulated that you will now go into fear mode, and subsequently the feint mode.

It's your body's response system and it cannot be changed.

However, the approach is to not let that stress happen in the first place, increase the awareness, increase the knowledge, so that a threat is not perceived with the same danger, and you become 'de-senstitised' to that danger, and therefore the GAS is not invoked.

There are lots of other things that can be done to help you over come this utilising hypnosis and various interventions and appropriate training - and these are all things that Vinnie, Rich and myself are Certified and trained in doing.

There's more information on my blog following my signature too - have a look at the following posts for a better understanding so far too:
