Firstly, big thank you to Dan and Laura at Fight Sport Industries for trusting me (once again) to present their show.
I absolutely love working on their shows.
They have put a brilliant team together from the photographers whether it be Mike or Pete (or both), to the officials who by the way were superb on Saturday, returning a unanimous decision on every bout that went the distance. Corin & team on production and Jesse and team back stage.
I hope I don't offend any of my other promoters by saying this but Saturday's show at The Dome was the best executed event I have ever worked on.
Got to hand it to Dan who really knows how to put a fight card together.
Stand out performances from the night were:
Kris Addis (marching forward with those long knees, he was clinical against an explosive Leigh Edlin. I can neither confirm nor deny whether I lost some cash on that one, haha)
Luke Greenshields v Joe Hanlon, the BEST B Class bout I've ever seen. Both guys want a re-match...please someone make it happen.
Damien Trainor, I just love Damien more and more with every fight. What a fight it was too...although Rungravee won the fight, going the distance with that little mad man was an achievement in itself. Well done Damien, that performance was outstanding.
Last but by no means least, my favourite fighter...Liam 'The Hitman' Harrison. Like Tony said, Saenchai is perhaps the best Nak Muay of all time and the lad from Leeds gave him HELL. What an exciting fight from start to finish, I was yelling my lungs up at ringside.
After the fight, I had a quick word with Harrison and he said... "After my first fight with him, I thought I could have done more. I gave it everything there but he's just better".
No excuses, injuries or 'get out clauses'...just a World Champion and top bloke admitting that he was beat.
Everyone should be proud of Liam and Damien, they have shown that only the very best of Thailand might still have the beating of us (just)...they are still going to have to dig deep to earn their wins.
The venue, the atmosphere, the audience...everything was brilliant.
Lastly, great to catch up with everyone over the weekend; Dan, Laura, Rob, Darren, Maxine, Tony, Michael, Daz M, Big Pete, Corin, Jesse, Dean S, Chad, Regis, Shaun, Chrissy & Pharnphetch and my 'Enfusion' brothers Vinny & Mickey Blue Eyes. (sorry if I've missed anyone out)
Great show, great fights and great friends!
Much Love
Dougie
