Regarding correctly stating wether something is K-1 or GLORY….

Well, when millions of pounds or being put on the line in BRAND and PRODUCT recognition it is extremely important!!! Especially when success rides on everything, even down to the smallest details being correct.

Product…. KICKBOXING.

Right now Kickboxing is booming once again. In part due to promotional companies such as K-1 and GLORY and SUPERKOMBAT several others that are doing very well but also because there has been a wider fan base built up to watch combat-sports where fighters use Kicking as well as boxing. This is due to the boom in the combat-sport of Mixed-Martial-Arts, driven mainly by the promotional company that uses the brand name U.F.C.

A lot of people that have been exposed to Mixed-Martial-Arts like the action while the fighters are standing up, but do not like the groundwork.

This has opened up the opportunity for a promotional company to trail blaze what a particular audience wants, hence the boom in Kickboxing promotions.

Now, would the UFC promotional company have one of its contracted fighters state in an interview that he has a BELLATOR ( rival M.M.A. promotional company ) fight coming up? The answer is No! They would be allowed to say they have Mixed-Martial-Art bout though as this is the widely used name of the sport that explains to an audience what the product is.

The product is a martial arts fight. Which style of martial art? No exclusive style but all the styles mixed. Mixed-Martial-Arts. The product name for the sport - easily recogniseable to a wide audience

Likewise would the GLORY promotional company have one of its contracted fighters state in an interview that he has a K-1 ( rival Kickboxing promotional company ) fight coming up? The answer is No! They would be allowed to say KICKBOXING though as this is the widely used name of the sport that explains to an audience what the product is.

The product is a Kickboxing fight. People will expect to see Kicks and Boxing. Kickboxing the product name of the sport - easily recognisable to a wide audience.
