First time I trained at Lukprabart Kru Tong said ok everybody clinching, all the top guys got in the ring including Wutidet and lunglernlek,I started to climb in and the kru told me no I had to stay with the boys on the outside,I was proper peeved until I saw the champs clinch, would of been a waste of their time and mine really as I wouldnt of been on my feet long,I clinched with the 50kg guys and they were throwing me to and I was 65kgs,this was around 9 years ago and I like to think Ive progressed since but Paul is correct they are that good.
I had another experience at the same time period in a camp in or near Tak I clinched all the boxers from 50kgs up and they all threw me easily,I then watched a older Thai who was a bit overweight/out of shape jump in and murder all the boxers in the clinch easily! I spoke to him after the clinch sesh and it was Sampson Issarn lol,he then gave me the line they all give "can you take me to England" and that of course is what has been needed! good Thais to teach all clinch skills,we have to do it the hard way and go and get it,one thing Im not certain of is how good Diesel Nois clinch skills were, sounds daft I know but to me it was his height/weight ratio that gave him the edge,of course he was a great clincher but at same height as the others perhaps he wouldnt of stood out?.
One of my favs was Langsuan proper Mr mean, nowadays I love Petboonchu:)
