As promised, the first fight to feature on The Main Event, May 23rd is:
Panicos Yusuf (All Powers, Stockport) vs Stephen Meleady (Bad Company, Leeds)
This lightweight clash sees double World Muay Thai champion Panicos Yusuf up against teak tough Irishman Stephen Meleady, who recently relocated to Leeds to train at the Bad Company gym. Panicos has beaten several high calibre opponents during his 37-fight career including former stadium champion Rittijak Kaewsamrit, Dutch star Sergio Wielzen and Italian Calgero Palmieri, and is currently enjoying a 21-fight winning streak. However, WMC European champion Meleady presents a test like few others the man from All Powers has previously faced, his aggressive, relentless fighting style and never-say-die determination proving too much for many so far. Meleady has fought at the very highest level against the best fighters on the planet and is one of few westerners to be ranked at the famous Lumpini stadium in Thailand. He fought on The Main Event in 2012, taking a win over UK Number 1 super-lightweight Keith Mclachlan and also holds a win over Paul Karpowicz. Having lived in Thailand for several years he has seen and done it all in a career spanning 53 fights, during which time he has faced the likes of world renowned Thai superstar Saenchai, Sam-A and Rungravee Sasiprapa, to whom he dropped a very close decision. This fight features two of the very best lightweights in Europe up against one another in one of many bouts on The Main Event that will be in contention for fight of the year!
