Michael Wakeling (Scorpions, London) vs Chad ‘2Slick’ Sugden (Suggy’s Gym, Newark)

To be fought under K1-rules, this fight sees Newark’s rising star Chad Sugden take on his toughest challenge to date in the form of double World champion Michael Wakeling, who has sat at the top of the UK rankings for many years.
The name Wakeling is synonymous with combat sports in the UK and between Michael and his brother Stephen there is little the family have not achieved. Michael claimed both European and World honours in Muay Thai at middleweight before moving onto the kickboxing circuit and beating the likes of Ali Gunyar and Pajonsuk Superpro en route to collecting the Enfusion World strap at 75kg. His record is unrivalled, reading 29wins, 1 loss and 1 draw from 31 professional contests.
At the age of just 20, Sugden has already achieved more than most and is seen as one of the best kickboxers the UK has produced in recent years. With an amateur record of over 100 bouts, during which he picked up several European and World titles, Sugden laid the foundations for his professional career from an early age under the guidance of his father and trainer Dean, himself a former World title holder. Sugden made his professional debut on The Main Event in 2012 and has enjoyed a meteoric rise towards the top since. He is the current ISKA Oriental rules World champion and has fought on the biggest stages in the world already under the K1-Global banner. In 2014 he took the highly regarded Enriko Kehl the distance on a fortnight’s notice in Germany, before returning to England and claiming a win over domestic rival Nathan Epps on The Main Event in June, taking his professional record to 12 wins and 3 losses from 15 bouts.
Will Wakeling extend his 10-year unbeaten run? Or will the young man from Newark come away with his biggest win?
