It is with great pleasure I announce the main event bout for Last Man Standing & Super Fights on Saturday the 25th April, at The Al Miraj Banqueting Suites, in Birmingham:
Andy “The Punisher” Howson (Bad Company/Black Widow/England) VS Thanit “Boom” Watthanaya (Thailand)
This amazing rematch is already scheduled to be one of the biggest International fights to hit UK shores in many years. These two fighters originally faced off in early December 2012 on the epic Muay Thai In America event and was voted the best fight in North America that year.
Defined by Muaythaiauthority.com as “In what can simply be described as a back and forth barn burner of a fight Andy Howson and Thanit Watthanaya showed nothing but heart in their bout”. After a steady start from both fighters in the opening round of the bout, both fighters established a firm start to the bout with the pace quickening in the second round where Watthanaya scored a knockdown against Howson, with a perfectly timed vicious right hand.
Howson fought back aggressively in the third round and was able to score a knock down against Boom with a strong punch combination sending Watthanaya to the canvas. Once Boom returned to his feet he appeared dazed and Howson in typical “Punisher” style pounced in to finish the fight and both fighters continued to exchange great shots in a very exciting, fast paced round.
In the fourth round Howson again started dominant over his opponent with vicious punch and kick combinations and again scored with another knock down against Watthanaya and at this point was ahead on the judges score cards and comfortably in control of the bout. This again proved to be a great round with both fighters engaging and exchanging leather throughout.
In the fifth round Watthanaya connected with a violent right hand which sent Howson hurtling to the canvas. Howson tried to get up immediately but it was clear to see he was hurt as he wobbled, trying to regain his balance and composure, but the damage was done and the referee was forced to stop the fight. This was a huge victory for Watthanaya who was overcome with emotion after the fight, this proved to be a very exciting fight.
The rematch has all the makings of being nothing but a war, both fighters have the upmost respect for one another’s ability to KO the other and will bring all the have to the ring on Saturday the 25th of April to capture the highly prestigious ISKA World Title at 53.5KG.
