Reece Rowell: “the only prediction I will make is that win, lose or draw it will be the toughest fight Jon Durrant has ever been in!”

ISKA World Title fight KTMMA 3

Alongside the ground-breaking England versus China match-ups at KTMMA 3 there is also an eagerly anticipated bout for the ISKA World Kickboxing title between two veteran KTMMA fighters, challenger Jon Durrant and defending champion Reece Rowell. It’s been a rollercoaster few years for the champion, with notable highs and the occasional lows-“The last couple of years have been very good but I have had a few disappointing injuries. I won the ISKA world title in October 2013 which was obviously a massive high. I beat a fantastic Spanish fighter called David Pineda to win that title. The injury was a knee injury that kept me from fighting for 6 months in the middle of last year but I came back in December 2014 to beat Nigel Thomas by unanimous decision.”

Having fought predominantly K-1 style recently, Reece sees no problem switching back to kickboxing for his title defence as it is low-kick kickboxing, so as he sees it, it’s only “losing the knee.” It’s a match that Reece is really looking forward to but he certainly does not underestimate his opponent-“Jon is a fighter I respect. He will bring a very tough challenge and has been unlucky not to have a world title of his own. He has had lots of fights, more than me but I am training very hard and believe I will still be the world champion by the end of the night.”

Preparations for this epic contest have been good for the champion, with sparring, conditioning and running all well on course and Reece is happy to be displaying his talents on a KTMMA showcase once more. “KTMMA is a brilliant format. I really enjoyed their rules when I fought last time out. As a show it is quickly turning into one of the best promotions in the country and has already had some of the top names in the country on it.” Like Jon, Reece is not one for making predictions but he does have a warning for the challenger- “the only prediction I will make is that win, lose or draw it will be the toughest fight he has ever been in!”

This promises to be one of the fights of the night come Saturday 14th of March when KTMMA 3 is live from the ILEC Conference Centre in Earls Court London.
