Wanted to bring this to the top. The past two months I have been to Vegas for shows I had the opportunity to meet two more of my heros. One is Lucien Carbin. Havng trained in Holland and followed all the great Dutch fighters careers, I became a huge fan of the pioneers. Not only did i get to meet Lucien but I had the honor of watching him work.

The other person that I am glad to have met and spend time with is Ronnie Green from the UK. Another true pioneer. These two fought back in the day and it was very cool seeing them meet again in Vegas!

Lucien's birthday is Sept.7th 1952 which makes him 52 years old now.

Allthough fighters with internationally more famous names came later, I (and lots of people more) consider him the best fighter from Holland ever.
Also most of our famous fighters have at one point in their carreer trained under him. These days he is the top coach from Holland, bringing newcomers to the worldtop frequently. Still in an amazing shape he is truely a living legend.
Maybe Dirk can add more historical facts on him.

Unfortunatly Lucien is too modest and does't talk much about his fighting days. Also there isn't much footage of him fighting available. Most (as far as he didn't got rid of it himself)is somewhere in his private collection which he already over 3 years promised to sort out so it can get digitilized. Hopefully he'll get to it sooner or later.....

Everbody who know me good, knows that Rob Kaman is my favorite fighter.Rob saw Lucien Carbin fighting in krasnapolsky in Amsterdam.Rob was impressed by Lucien and they became friends.Lucien took Rob Kaman to Mejiro gym. So,Lucien was an example for Rob Kaman,Lucien is the very first champion from here,he really is our godfather of the muay thai sport.
