Oliver Sperling
Posted: 2002-11-29 08:05:34
Time will show, but I can feel the luck coming my way.

My bets in K-1 pools here on the Ax have not been the best, but at least I can say that I have won once, an that was the K-1 Paris pool. Otherwise I have always ended in the middle or close to the end. When will I ever learn? But again, this year I will win the pool, respect and a shirt:)

I dont cry if I end close to the bottom (again) in this 2002 Grand Prix pool. My only wish and what I am aiming after is to beat Dirk, David and Felix - and to see Bob Sapp get a lesson. Then I am happy!

Felix
Posted: 2002-11-29 08:36:48
i multiply the number you bet on the fighter with how many wins he gets that evening. last year hoost was worth one point while leko who lost two fights was worth nothing. the same goes for abidi in 2000.

last year hunt won the grand prix so if someone bet 8 points on him that would have been 24 points. most of us bet 8 points on hoost so 8x1=8.

This is the way i see it going.

FIRST ROUNDS
Aerts will KO Sefo in the 3rd Round, Could be with A head kick.
Hoost will TKO Sapp in the 3rd Round, due to to many leg kicks
Hunt will KO Leko in the 2nd Round, With A BIG Punch.
Lebanner will KO Musashi in 1st Round, Could be with anything, But will be fast & the shortest fight.

SEMI'S
Aerts will beat Hoost on points, But will go an extra round. To be the longest fight.
Lebanner will KO Hunt in the 3rd Round with Hands.

FINALS
Lebanner will beat Aerts, Probibilly unanamous desision over 3 Rounds.

RESERVE FIGHT
McDonald will beat Holm by desision over 3 Rounds.

HOW DO THE REST OF YOU THINK IT MIGHT GO??

My guesses:

LeBanner will murder Musashi, or if hes bright Musashi will run and hide :)

Leko vs Hunt will probably go the distance, but with Leko throwing more variety of moves he'll probably win on points.

Sefo's defense vs knees and low kicks is looking very solid. Holm threw dozens of knees but Ray blocked and countered with hooks everytime. And Sefo's boxing skills are far superior than Aerts. Sefo on points.

And hopefully Hoost moves alot faster and does what he should have done the first time, kick the legs to pieces. If theres no stops, KO by leg kick late in the 1st or early in the 2nd.

2nd round:
LeBanner being fresh after a short fight vs Musashi, should beat Leko who had a long hard fight already. The fatigue should show and KO in the 2nd.

Sefo vs Hoost is pretty even. It'll be a slim points advantage, hopefully to Ray :)

LeBanner vs Sefo final, by this point everyone is knackered, so a KO is unlikely. Hopefully points to Sefo, but its really 50/50.

I read in Fighttimes magazine abit about Mark Hunt and LeBanners last fight and how Hunt was blinded by something and couldn't see clearly for most of the fight. I never saw the fight but it suggested there was something on LeBanners gloves that caused it. LeBanner apparently had his face wiped with a towel at the end of the fight that had wiped his gloves earlier and then complained to his corner men that his eyes were stinging. The gloves where pulled off and thrown into the crowd so nothing more happened. Was this for real?

Don't know if this is old news, but the GP will be shown on Eurosport Dec 28th.

Ok, I have a change in prize offerings. After fulfilling the T-shirt orders, I have to make a change to the prizes of the pool.

The top three winners get a choice between an Ax Shirt and a K-1 Grand Prix 2000 video tape (in NTSC format). The cost of the video is more, but I was given these for free so what the hell. They're still in shrink wrap! The video has the following fighters...Musashi, Ernesto Hoost, Jerome Lebanner, Peter Aerts, Mirko CroCop, Mike Bernardo, Cyril Abidi, and Ray Sefo.

Bob Sapp will win...

EVERYTHING

That is my bet.

i weigh 65kg. so i guess i do in japan but not in the netherlands. LOL. anyway, 7th place is a little too far down the list for a t-shirt.

Felix....

I demand a recount! I had Holm as a winner against McDonald – I had Hoost VS Jerome in the finale, the fastest fight, the longest fight etc.etc. But ok, it is whinter here in Denmark, who needs a T-shirt:)

LOL!!

Ok, so
1--PJ Reilly- 43+2

due to the unusual circumstances in this years grand prix, hoost and jerome were worth 2 points each. sapp, sefo and hunt were worth one each. usually the winner wins three maches and is worth 3 points but not this time so it didn't matter if you had hoost first and jerome second or the opposite. it really came down to where the betters put leko, aerts and musashi, the only fighters worth zero points.

I think it was a set-up! Someone at the K1 didn't want me to win! First all of the stuff with Sapp, Schilt and Hoost... and now this...

Setup?!?!?!?!? Just because Ishii is my brother doesn't mean that we worked out any kind of deal over dinner two weeks before the GP. :)

this is why my ranking list is objective instead of subjective. it seems the only one close to qualified to judge the quality of fighters is grim [and perhaps pj, we'll see if he can consistantly pick them over three years.]
