The tecnical rules, I think Lollo can say(I'm sure a few others too but...)better than I.
But as much as the rules say I have never seen a fighter in Thailand get more than a verbal warning, usually while the fight continues or while the guy gets up. MuayThai in the ring is a sport and the rules, I believe, are designed to keep the fighters safe and keep the fight action packed.
This is where I think the rules on throwing come from.
Again in the smaller stadiums you will often see lots of throws, especially with the kid fights. But MuayThai is suppose to be about a fight not 'wrestling around'. Which is why the Thais sometimes call ground fight, kid fight. I think anyway.
To fighters in the ring are suppose to fight fight.
Don't let this fool you. MuayThai is not void of throws and is not void of 'illegal' throws.
I have proffesed a few times how comfortable I am on my feet so I feel I must now say I went down a couple of times the other day. I was lighter and rotating guys but I went down, kind a pissed me off(at myself). One I took controle on the way down and came around with an elbow(not trying to land it, just sample) good power with my body weight and momentum right in an opening.
The other time we seperated and I was on my feet befor he could do anything.
