Kia Ora Oliver, if I may add to what dangerous has written ( I agree with what he has said too )

The moko displays a person's lineage, their status within their community, area(s) of expertise ( for some it could be weaponry, martial arts, diplomacy, oratory skill even ), achievements and history. To wear a moko carries with it great expectations and responsibility, ie. humility and respect, no drugs or alcohol, to partake in any of these would be to denigrate it's meaning or purpose.

There has been a resurgence in the wearing of moko, women wear the facial moko as well ( moko can be almost anywhere on the body ) but only on the chin and lips. Actually I know a few women who wear the moko and I have to say they look quite beautiful ( IMHO )

toa also means ' to win ' or ' champion '

kia tau te rangimarie ki te katoa
( peace on earth )
