Having 24 hr before the event wiegh ins helps reduce the injuries and effects of dehydration in kickboxing. Also the shorter rounds - 2mins instead of 3mins allows the fighter more time to hydrate. Footy players playing in 35 degree heat last weekend shows that some sports have a long way to go when it comes to protecting their participants. Even jockeys have to ride nearly all daty after fasting and usually losing wieght (water) in the sauna.
