I originally got into Thai boxing in March 2005 to lose some weight and get fit. Between Jan 2007 and my first fight at the end of May 2009 I lost 47 kilos. To do this just took careful eating and plenty of training. Pretty quickly on I found that anyone can call themselves a nutritionist with no qualifications whatsoever, so I tend to ignore them. There's a lot of quack pseudoscience around sport and weight loss but my experience shows that proper science does work if you put in a bit of time and a fair bit of self discipline. I also do BJJ where I got my blue belt in April 2010 and I started training in MMA in October 2009. Current Thai fighting record is 5 interclubs and 2 fights/two losses. When I started training in 2005 I looked something like this: By training hard since then I've got to this: (when I got my BJJ blue belt in April 2010) and (just after my 2nd fight in July 2010) Away from training I'm a software developer with 8 years experience including web development in ASP classic and ASP.Net, Microsoft stuff including VB and C#, SQL Server, Oracle and various bits of open source stuff, not to mention the usual sorting out computer problems for family and friends. I'm admin for the Bad Company Shop, and webmaster of the Gracie Barra Leeds website. |
