Unfortuately Aaron Gareth Is not fighting on this show , there was an insistance that he get down to 91 kg for a title that tops out at 94 .9 , he could not do this and remain healthy so we decided to can the fight and give him the oppurtunity to have his shoulder fixed

Hoping Vinnie can put on a little bit of weight next year maybe at porirua

Sorry to hear that Dave, thanks for the info ...Gareth has been unlucky in securing fights this year e.g. 4 opponants pulling out on him and now this.
All the best for next year Gareth and I hope your shoulder heals well mate.

Seriously loving the poster. No flashy graphics or slogans, just the important stuff.

This looks like a pretty awesome night anyway. A fitting way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of someone who's done so much for NZ thai boxing.

It was and AWESOME show. Sifu Lam put on an excellent evening. He gave a great speech and called lots of his former students, many now trainers themselves, into the ring and paid respect to others like Terry Hill and some of his freinds who always have supported thaiboxing over the past thirty years. It was really special. Lollo gave a great speech paying respect to some of Auckland's other prominent trainers as well.

RESULTS

Choppa vs-thai opponent (sorry can't remember name)

The Thai guy didn't look phased at all buy Chopper's awesome ring entry; 6 or 7 guys walkingahead of him holding 6 or 7 title belts...it was awesome! Choppa patted a couple of kids heads on the way into the ring before climbing through the roped and doing what it appears he does best-knocking out Thai Opponents with elbows!- Ko win to Choppa. The Thai boy really acted the fool played to the crowd but landed little in the first two. Choppa landed nice hands and low kick combos. IN the Third the Thai threw a very sloppy punch, CHoppa took a hald step back and threw a counter left hook/which he adjusted to an elbow which landed SWEETLY on teh chin of his opponent and sent to the Canvas well and truly unconscious for at least a good minute. Choppa gave a great speech, almost apologising for knocking his opponent out, thakning Sifu lAm for ten years of training and acting like a father, expressing his love and thanks to his longtime girlfreind and givingin gratitude to all his fans and freinds who have supported him over the years. It was really an awesomer ending to a special night of thaiboxing...get the video!

Jan Antolik ex Czechoslovakia vs Ramazan Ramazanov (Russia)-Rematch. Jan won on Points decison. Good technical fight for the first three, Jan scoring better with the hands and Ramazan scoring a little more with the mid kick. FOurth round Jan dropped him with a sweet left hook and then opened up with just a crazy amount of elbows many which landed but Ramazan wouldn't go down and answered with elbows of his own. Fifth round went the distance with no further 8 counts and Jan clearly won. Congratulations!

David Gahan vs Steve Donaldson- Steve Donaldson won, points Decision.
Great to see the poison man back in the ring. Steve fought beautifully for his win. He used his rnage superbly and didn't really give Dave a chance to fire first. He kept Dave's on the defensive, constantly throwing highkicks, good straight punches and moving, moving, moving. He landed some nice elbows and cut Dave in the fourth and fifth respectively. Dave landed some great punching combinations and kept walking forward, but Steve just used the ring too well I thought.

Michelle Preston vs Julie Wood- Julie Wodd-Points Decision-
Julie's expereince showed here, using the ring well, a little busier with the hands and scoring enough to take the win. Michelle kept pressuring but couldn't seem to get her range and rythem.

Jon Gallia vs Faisal Zakaaria (Sudan)-Jon staretd strong, dumping Faisal to the Canvas, and throwing some angry hand combos, while Faisal clinched well and threw some fancy Ax Kicks and spinning back kicks. I think it was the second round when Faisal faked a rib kick but threw a short knee which caught Jon in the midsection (maybe the liver) and put him away from the night...KO win for Faisal. Jon was obviously in a lot of pain from the shot.

Eugene Bareman vs Willie Lam-Awesome awesome fight. Both guys fought exceptionlly well. Euge won on Points decision. Willie scored well with the low kick in the second and third but stopped throwing it in the fourth and fifth. Eugene dominated in the grapple and constantly threw beautiful knees, and threw Wille in the grapple. Willie landed some nice right hands, and Eugene answered with great sombinations of his own. There were some awesome exchanges through out the fight that had the crod on their feet. It was a really exciting and skillfull fight, bith guys were awesome.

Alex Porter vs Scott Greenhaigh-Draw. Alex landed some nice kicks, but Scott Greenhaigh constantly landed some excellent knees through out the fight. It was close but personally I thought Scott was unlucky not to get the win. Alex landed a couple of great almost kyokushin stlye headkicks and some good knees of his own but I thought Scott was a little busier and landed more. Good fight from both boys.

Please forgive any typos...this is just my view of the fights others may have different opinions. Thanks, I'm off to training!

Sounds like an awesome show!
Even though "retired" Julie Wood is still streets above all us
other female fighters in NZ. Not sure what she's up to these days
but it would be awesome for us girls if she did some seminars / training
afternoons (or something similar) throughout NZ to get the level/standard up.
Dunno, maybe one in Auckland, one in Wellington, one in Christchurch.
I'm sure there would be enough interest in each region to pay her expenses etc.
Just a thought!
