Theres a nice buzz on a couple of threads concerning fc at the minute so i thought id add fuel and get bit more of light hearted thread going !

Which clubs do feel are at the top of the tree on the uk fc circuit at present ? I don't mean who has the top fighter , i think it should be judged by depth of talent within the club

DanUK

Bulldog, TKO, Chikara, TS Kickboxing, Leicester KBC.

Danny we are now called Lincoln Kickboxing Acadamy, Chikara is a different club from us now.

Dail is best club defined in term of best team of fighters, training facilities, coaches, history etc etc

either way i cant argue with the list Danuk has given

Lex Easden's club Paisley Kickboxing along with Sky Axe Kickboxing in Dundee have got good stables of fighters IMHO.

Of course I am bound to say U.S.K.A. but in truth the tuition there is second to none, with a pro work ethic and ethos for even jnr fighters, which are now making their way onto the full contact ciruit. The gym has had exellent past F.C. fighters too. Apart from this club there are a great many good fighting gyms about, the cream for me so far is Newark Martial arts under Dean Sugden so much class from some young, full of promise.

Posted: 2006-06-25 09:32:57
Have to agree with Alan about the class of Deans jouniors, very tidy. Neil has also got a good bunch of young, talented fighters, their records and performances have proven this every time i have seen them.

Everyone always seems to forget Bill Murrays Prokick gym in N. Ireland, very classy gym with very successful fighters

Bulldog, they've been around for a few years now, I think they tend to fight in N Ireland though. Stuart McGlone was/is one of theirs if that any use mate?

The Northeasts Zhengdaolo Club deserves a mention.
Steve Jessop and Freddie Ibbotson have trained many
champions over the years, and continue to..
Examples: Mark Greener was British Heavyweight champion,
Steve Ibbotson IKF European, and still active, James
Watling and Kevin Smiles (does no-one wanna fight these
guys?).

What with Spartans Sunderland also having good fighters
Andy Burton and Michael Johnson, as well as those from
Lincoln, has me dreaming of a north Vs south match up.

Thanks Alan for that...it is nice when you get acolade from anyone but from someone outside of your club it makes it even sweeter. I will pass your comments on to our Junior Fight Club.

We have some great prospects from 5 years old up to 15 years of age. The emphasis is on skill but we demand 100% effort and attention. Personally i think that we should all look to create a Junior circuit that models the senior one. This will help to keep them interested. We are putting another Gym Show Interclub event on 27th August mainly for Juniors. Anyone who would like to attend drop me an email and I will forward you details.

We have had some good champions from the past and some very exciting Champions of the future...Seniors and Juniors!

Too many to mention! As a club built around The Full Contact Fight circuit. We have always tried to work with all Sanctioning Bodies and Promoters. If we have not worked with you before please do not hesitate to make contact. I am always struggling to get some of my more experienced Juniors and Seniors out.

Gary - I am trying to match one of my fighters who is looking for a return to the ring in November on the 18th. His name is Mark Thompson and would be a good opponent for James Watling. Perhaps you could call me or give me upto date contact details for James.

Yours In Sport

Dean

Snail - Thanks...you are very welcome Dale, think it is very important to give our future stars the opportunity to compete against each other.

Going back to Top Full Contact Clubs. I think Big Dave's Club in Lincoln should get a special mention because without people like Big Dave shows and bouts would not happen. Quite often fighters drop out through injury and time and time again Big Dave's fighters have stepped in to save the day. They have taken fights maybe not at the right time, or not in their home town time or they are not in training or its not at the right time in their career!

But it makes life as a promoter alot easier. So special mention to Top Coach and Top Full Contact Club Big Dave and The Lincoln Kickboxing Academy and those old school values on fighting.

I think
Spartan -- Sunderland, Paul Grieves
Newark Martial Arts -- Dean Sugden
W.U.M.A. Gloucester -- Deadly Dicker
T.K.O. -- Colin Payne
Lincoln Kickboxing Academy -- Big Dave

Senior wise this all have great FC fighters but are also bringing on the future talent along with many of the other clubs already mentioned.

My club Scorpio Freestlye has had a bit of a break from the curcuit but I think soon will be once again be up on the list with the rest. I think now Gaz has finished University we will soon be a name mentioned again

Thanks Dean for your very kind words, it means a lot to Big Dave and all at Lincoln KBA. We do are best to help anybody out at any show as much as we can. We have a great bunch of fighters who are prepared to fight anybody anywhere. Examples of this are Steven Swinburn travelling to Norway to fight world champion Ek Tossakan, Richard Oak fighting unbeaten Paul Baxter over 5 round for the midlands title on Paul own show and myself having a rematch with European champion Arild Mikarlsen after he slapped me silly in our first fight!

Anyway we are all setting off for Ibiza in 10 minutes times so i best be off, theres 18 of us going over today, plus Andy Burton and Michael Johnson from Sunderland also travelling today, so its gonna be crazy. I will post pics on here when we get back.

Speak Soon!!

all the clubs mentioned so fare are on a roll but remember there are clubs out there that have also been in this position of strength at some point. the sport has peeks and dips along the way. as i have mentioned on snails previous thread some clubs are about to return from the ashes and have a pedigree.
Colin Payne

Probably fair to say that most of the clubs that have been mentioned are 'represented' in one way or another here on AX, so to balance it out a bit here are a few that should be mentioned that I don't think anyone comes on Ax from:

Walton KBC, run by Keith Betts. Solid fighters, always prepared.
Heathrow KBC run by Marty Cox. Ditto above, all nice stylish fighters, proper 'kick-boxers'.
Aveley, run by Steve Kerridge.Only mentioned once above.Loads of fighters. Jason Vasallo, Chris Wooten, Adam hart, etc and going back over years too many to mention.
Cobra run by Tim Izli. Loads of good fighters
Invicta Kickboxing. Home of George Pattison. Never the biggest squad of fighters, but always good quality.
SCDS from bournemouth run by Matty turner and Phil Norman
Pro-am Brighton. Chill John, Stacy Gosden, Ken Turner, Sean Mallett, etc.

I for 1 am a 5 times world champion along with Wesley Fagan european champion and a recent ISKA world title contender gotta mean sumit lol. I think everyone should remeber the MASAC gym name its guna be around a long time trust me!!!
