Stefan Leko was Golden Glory fighter number three to make it to the last 16 in Osaka Japan for the coming elimination tournament. Stefan made a blitzkrieg in Vegas by winning all three fights by KO. Scott Lighty, Carter Williams and Michael Mac Donald could not keep up with Leko who was on a path of distruction. No point victory in Vegas was the assigment and he did just that by koing all of his opponents.
After Chalid " Die Faust" won the last K-1 qualification tournament in the Mirrage it was now the Blitz at the Bellagio.
Never before in the history of K-1 has three fighters from one team made it to the last 16 and it is Golden Glory which proves to have the best quality fighters , trainers and managers pushing their fighters to great hights and preformances.
Congratulations Stefan and Cor Hemmers who proves once again he is the best stand up trainer in the world.
Stefan said in an interview with Fuji tv that he wanted to fight Bonjanski next in Osaka, he said Bonjaski is not a true champion as he beat him before and he became a 2 x champion because the Blitz was not participating because of political reasons.
I hope Bonjaski will exccept my challenge, he will if he is a true K-1 champion.
Stephan will now go to Canada with his girl friend for a week and then he will train harder then ever before with the Golden Glory team. That title is mine this year!!!!
With Sporting Greetings
Bas Boon
Nice pics Dirk but Leko will not get near Bonjaski. IMO Leko is by far the weakest of the mainstream K1 fighters and I just dont rate him.
Nice job Leko! Thank You very much as I bet $550 USD on you and I am very happy for the win !
Phil, I disagree.
Leko has beaten Remy before in the past. Not to mention his wins over Ignashov, Peter Aerts (2x KO), Bajrami, Filho and his recent domination in this tournament against quality opponents. He has also won the Las Vegas tournament 2001.
I rate Leko as one of the top guys in K-1 right now for sure, very active and focussed fighter.
We shall see Davor, time will tell! He is just one of those that I cant warm to and never have done. Then again I thought Carter Williams would have taken K1 by storm a couple of years ago so I have been known to be grossly wrong!
I think Leko has the quality to do well in K1 although he seems to lack a bit in size.
Fair play though to KO Lighty, Williams and Macdonald in one night is bloody good work!!

Well done Stephan, just for the record Dirk why does he fight for Dutch based Golden Glory if he is(forgive me if im wrong) German.
Hi Rdouble,
Leko is fighting for Golden Glory, because Bas Boon is his manager.
Cool Pic's Dirk.
It was a fantastic showing, "The Blitz is Back".
He looked in pure form this show, took a few hard shots and pulled through. That kick he ended Williams with was a killer and his hands are back big time.
The guy that Sefo fought was impressive. Sure he took some shots and went down but he mixed it up well and impressed me. I like what I saw and remember the last fighter who fought Sefo in that type of event became a current star "Ruslan Karaev". And while on that note, Karaev looked great too.
From what I saw of the fight with fernando and Duane, how did that get a draw??? Flip, how did one judge score against Iggy??? Big Daddy and Carter I would like to see happen again. Its like two bulls and no matador going head to head. That upper cut was a beauty.
Ah, great showing from Blitz and congrats to the man.

No idea. Plus, Calleros was really hurt - cut, fx ribs, and the damage done was painfully obvious in rounds 2 & 3. Can you imagine when Ludwig asked for a 4th, tiebreaker round, what he must have thought? "who gave this guy the mic?"
The K-1 Vegas show is now airing on IN DEMAND in the USA and VIEWERS CHOICE in Canada.
New Zealand fans can watch it on TVNZ on August 25.
Had a great time calling it with Frankie Liles.
