Agreed that anyone else in the competition would have had more than their hands full in the same situation, Narupol is one of the greatest fighters of our time and a huge thai = huge power couldn't have had a harder fight in my opinion based on the size of the two.

Thaiguy, i have seen the fight and i have to say that i agree with Hook, Trevor fought really bravely and did honour to himself and to his gym, however Narupol honestly speaking fought classic nak muay, that is: doing enough to win. Narupol i think never shifted to his max gear.
What i think we try to say is that Trevor was excellent "but" he came up too soon with a thai champ hence the comment about the mismatch.
having said all that, please re-read hook first comment and read your answer, you are the one who is coming trough as the immature.
Finally there is an unwritten, unspoken rule that if you are not filling your profile your comments are worthless.

Don't worry bud I havent disputed anything of that nature! I love the Thai style and the respect they show there was no argument on any of that at all on my behalf he tried hard and thats all you can ask Neurapole is a very smart and crafty fighter as are most thais especially that of fairtex lineage.

I love the thai style more than anything I am not a fan of european or N American stylists... I like watching power and precision. I also like the fact they are not ego driven and have so much respect for their opponents.

The point I was making was to watch what is being said as I was fresh off watching it and knowing how much of a terrific person T is I just don't want anyone saying anything negetive in any matter. From a neutral point of view Hook wasn`t being disrespectful, he just said it was a mismatch. Not seen the fight myself but if Trevor was beaten easily then why could it not be construed as a mismatch? I am inclined to agree with Phil on this one. I wouldn't really say that Hook said anything disparaging against Trevor. He was merely making an observational statement. Seems over the top. Rafik is a right character - Jitti used to just stare at him out of disbelief half the time. I remember when Rafik announced he was going to fight Yod in Pattaya and Jitti just grinned and said 'you'll die'.

I kind of grew to like him although it took some getting used to...taught me to shower quick and get to the dinner table quickly. His eating/sharing habits were something else :D

Really hope this gets shown in the UK, I've watched the first 3 and already hooked, so hopefully it can devliver our sport to the general public well. Good to see Sean and Dave coming across well and also doing well! The likes of JWP and Trevor also come across well in the program and although most will hate the likes of Rafik, but those are the kind of characters that make it interesting, although would have been better without the handbags argument!

Zak performed very well indeed, with really great style...sad about the shoulder injury. Although it was early in the fight he was clearly winning.

Yeah, Zak had nice techniques and skills, not sure if it was due to the company he was in or what, but he didn't seem like a natural fighter, saying that, the pressure of being the home fighter on something like that must have played on his mind!

To be honest, I'm a bit gullible and want to give them the benifit of the doubt, I'm not sure if it was a dive or whither it was more of a case of him not wanting to fight and not trying to get up, as he did seem to be struggling with it. Eak was hitting him with a bit of venom and in the slow-motion his body reacted/twitched too quickly to fake IMO. Saying that, he didn't try at all and could have got up. It was a shame, as I always wondered who'd win in a fight, I like watching Eak and really liked him as a person, but Naruepol is clever, much better range and dangerous close aswell, it would have been ace if they made it to the final and really went for it!

The show is directed really well, really tugs on the old heart strings, which will bring in people outwith the sport if it gets aired here, a it makes you really empathise with the fighters!

After watching alot of the Evolution shows from OZ, Mike and Mark have to be one of the best commentator partnerships out there. They are hilarious at times, and some of the banter they come out with is better than the fights themselves......lol

The Contender theme is quite good to run too, could do with being alot longer though. But it's a bit Rocky like! The iPod has Rocky, The Exploited, Slipknot and OCS on it the now, a good variety for different running rates. Being doing alot recently. Was doing alot of Treadmill stuff but went of them and back to doing more running outdoors. Pity it's fucking snowing, and blowing a gale half the time up here......lol

Thought Soren would've caked walked this one. I have a good few of his fights on DVD and I have always enjoyed watching him fight, saying that he is bad for letting his guard down, and well that right hand from Dzaeber was a peach!

like the way jon wayne par got jayme to bounce up and down when practising the ram muay, kind of gets you thinking. :) lol. good episode, looking forward to next weeks now.

I also thought soren would win handily... Jabba is a hungry fighter by te seems of it....Jabba vs Sean maybe also a good match.

loving ep13 handlement

How is it that the semifinals are decided without chance? Just an edict from Fox about who gets matched? I cry foul and agree this was to try to setup a dream final. They should have been randomly matched as in previous episodes.

Yeah the irony of Sean being last to get picked at the start, and then makes it so far after all his original team mates had been put out the tournament, I bet he had the last laugh. He's definately changed for the better since going to Thailand.

The chance of beating Yod was always going to be a hard one for him, and maybe the occasion did get to him, but he still did himself proud! Great achievement, and he's only 26 - god I feel soooo old Ha Ha

So it's a Yod Vs JWP final? Yod will take care of that just like the first time they met.

Much props to Sean Wright... My new favorite fighter.. He has great, athletisism and an appeasing style. Great all round fighter..Jabba and Sean would/will? be a great match up...

Final:
JWP vs Yodsanklai - Yodsanklai wins and gets the cash prize and title!

Undercard:
Zach vs Zidov - Zach wins by stoppage fifth round with elbow
Jabba vs Rafik - Jabba wins points
Soren vs Sean - Soren wins points

Obviously a disappointing result for Sean - not yet heard how the fight went but he definitely has the skill and power to beat Soren so I would imagine he ain't gonna be that happy, but I guess you win some you lose some! Hopefully see a better result from his next fight in Japan against Kozo next month (sorry to hijack the thread for a bit of advertising!).

here's how it all went down.

Sean v Soren
sean started real well hitting soren and preventing soren from coming in. whenever they clinch, soren landed many hard knees while sean just kept elbowing. sean prob took rd 1. rd 2 was a draw. 3,4,5 was soren. the impact of the knees clearly showed as sean gassed out in 4,5. he was just backing off.

Zach v Zidov
Zach won via rd5 tko. broke zidov\'s nose with an elbow. zach fought to his strengths with teeps and high kicks. keeping zidov out of range. many low kicks thrown by zach. zidov clearly felt the impact after round 2. imo zidov did not show up for the fight till end of round 4. he didnt seem as hungry as zach. zidov could have done much better. at round 4 and 5 after he woke up, zach was backing off most of the time. he turned his back to zidov many times. had the fight went on, zidov might knock zach out. if zidov had started since rd 1 he might have won.

dzhabar v rafik
very anti climatic fight. not the war that we expected. but very tactical fight. both fighters were very cautious and wary of each other. exchanges of low kicks. rafik prob landed 2-3 clean punches while dzhabar landed 5-6. dzhabar swept rafik off the group couple of times.

yodsaneklai v jwp
great heart shown by jwp. he went for the jugular right at the get go. pressuring yod. jwp had the upperhand in rd 1 till he was rocked by yod. rd 2 was pretty much the same with jwp letting go right at the start. yod dropped him again. 3,4,5 jwp knew he had to knock yod out. and he went at it with the kitchen sink. in the end yod prevailed. showing some very good head evasions of the punches and throwing some good counter punches. best fight of the night. fully lived up to expectations. the fox announced that season 2 will be singapore. looking forward to the weekly fights and meeting the fighters again

Yod vs JWP was the right final and it was great to see Yod win and get financial security for him and his family.

It was a great show and definitely did the sport a lot of good.

I don't think Naruepol took a dive, i think he couldn't face fighting a friend, whereas Yod was going to do anything it took to win the prize.

Another series would be fantastic and there are more than enough quality fighters to put on a few more.

Liam commented JWP made the fight closer than it should have been... i was there at the final in Yods corner and although i'm biased to Yod, trust me, Yod is in a league above.

Yod was so respectful to JWP... there were many opportunities where Yod could have taken advantage but he didn't .. he showed much respect and they both made it the best fight that the show could have hoped to end on - one which showed immense heart and determination and also one which displayed the tradition and culture behind muaythai - Respect and the honour to fight one another...

Well done to both fighters... but in the end, the best man won..
